I have never been involved with the rail industry, but reading this interesting thread it seems that the job can cover a large area. How does the potential driver acquire the relevant route knowledge to cover any given route.
The simple fact is that the 110 service is by far the most profitable route for Arriva Yorkshire and the income generated helps to maintain marginal services. There is no doubt that a serious drop in 110 revenues would have a knock on effect for other services.

The X33 sometimes did changeovers at Heckmondwike Beck Lane/ Station Road garage, not Frost Hill which in the nineties was a National Travel North East depot.
