UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

But that is a reduction from 500 to 450 miles. No worries But 10% on an EV can be 200 to 180 miles where 200 miles is already marginal

Unpredictable journey times? There is nothing predictable about journey times by car. It has taken me between 2hrs and never to drive to Birmingham

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

I find the sound of motorbike and sports car engines much less disturbing than the tyre and wind noise from other vehicles. Walking or cycling along a major road is purgatory. Doubly annoying to know that the inhabitants of the vehicles are protected from the noise they are imposing on outsiders

Avanti take needless announcements to a new level

Buses never feel the need to warn you about the gap between the bus and the pavement. Or that snow is slippery. Nor do they need to remind you to check that you have all our luggage. Having said that the only time I have forgotten luggage was on a bus

    Taxing road users by mile

The 10,000 mile average user in a small car (<50g/k) would be paying £1500 pounds rather than £200. I presume that you would reduce Fuel duty from 53p per litre to zero. So car doing 10000 miles at 10 miles per litre would save £530 pounds on fuel costs. A net increase of £770 The 10,000...

HEV hybrid are not electric vehicles.. They are fuelled by fosilll fuel only. Calling them self charging hybrids is disingenuous advertising You wouldn't call a class 47 loco a self charging electric loco

    England's first cycle street

Whe the highway Code was updated to give pedestrians priority when crossing side roads motorists were very good at doing so. But now we are back to jump out of the way when a car wants to turn right. I suspect that adherence to pedestrian priority on these roads will be the same sclerotic My...
