Just wondering if anyone on here has applied for the above vacancy and at what stage of the recruitment process they are?
I have applied for Norwich. Hopefully waiting for an interview date.
Yes indeed!
These idiots have absolutely no idea of the carnage they caused! Not a clue! I really do hope it was no one on here but if so, do you realise you had drivers having done one trip on the branch, were then absolutely petrified of driving over the route again? Yes Well done you...
Hi guys.
Sorry I've not posted since I started this thread but glad to see its going strong and has been helpful!
When I successfully applied the railway was known as "One". It did take a long time to get through the whole process.
I wasn't on this forum then or any other so I wouldn't...
Maybe this has been posted already.
Just thought I'd let those interested know they are recruiting now.

What I meant was, HR give you different information. They couldn't really answer me.
Those figures are not correct which seems strange as its the aslef site!
I was the 7.42.
Was ok this morning, apart from the pesky 20mph and a mainliner holding up at Stratford.
4 mins late into Liv st. Better than my 20 mins late yesterday!:D
I must admit. I do tend to let passengers know when we start crawling that it's due to an ESR. It can have such an impact on the services and create horrendous congestion during the peak times. Something as silly as that can cause chaos!
Will have to look out for the graffiti cleared walls...
Trying to get info out of them on what your salary will be, eventually, is like pulling teeth!!
Lets just say that the depot driver salary is what you will be on once qualified. But you will get Sundays and rest day working on top.
Once you become mainline competent but still a depot...
No. Not private either.
Actually I have a feeling you may need a few more posts on the forum under your belts before you can send and receive. So get posting! Lol.
This morning wasn't good. Lots of congestion due to the early overhead wire problems.
What really didnt help either was a 20mph emergency speed restriction at Romford. It's been there the last two days. Creates a hell of a lot of congestion in the morning peak. It's a 90mph line with about 4...
Trying to post you a private message in answer to your thread about being taken on as a driver! Can't seem to be able too? See if you can send me one and I'll reply.
Congratulations!
I'm a driver on GA so can advise.
Oh my gawd!!
I do hope my firm doesn't get any funny ideas!
I've always enjoyed the fact that I have to wear a uniform. There are so many benefits. For a start I haven't got to worry about what I'm going to wear every day.
But THAT!! Sorry, it's vile.
Exactly right. The full 12 cars come into service at SWF. Battlesbridge is only an 8 car platform so it has to miss that stop out.
You're also right about the other 12 being opened up at Wickford. It has caused a lot of problems. People were piling into the rear of the 8 next to the locked...
I had a chat with a couple of the enforcement officers the other evening.
They are soon to be kitted out with ticketing machines and penalty fare books so you may find tickets will be checked much more frequently.

Indeed it does.
But those...
Did the lighting not come on at all?
No emergency lighting? Which would just be a couple of bulbs lit in each coach, usually at the doors. If not, it sounds as if the driver may have forgotten to put the lights on. Very easy done!
If we take a train out of service, we travel without the...
Good luck to everyone who has applied for this role.
I'm in the rather fortunate position of having previously been a psa for 5 years and now a mainline driver for Greater Anglia. I can tell you that psa's earn every penny of that 37k!
There is a hell of a lot more to the job than what...
Thorpe Le Soken was down due to cable theft. So I was told by a colleague this evening.
One of the 317's in Aldersbrook sidings had to be taken to Ilford Emud to have a massive amount of graffiti removed today too!
The 12 cars to Braintree only go as 12 as on their return to London, they form a 12 car to Southend victoria.
Great fun stopping at a 12 car board which is off the end of the platform!
The same thing happens on the southminster branch in the morning peak. Only front 8 in service to...
