Why do some passengers not get how annoying it is to play music and videos out loud?

It's all about enforcement. Get posters at stations and on trains. Add it to the myriad of PA announcements 'see it say it sorted' etc. and most of it would quickly stop. The problem is/was allowing people playing music/videos to become normalised shortly after smart phone companies decided to...

Why do some passengers not get how annoying it is to play music and videos out loud?

First step is to show that it's not acceptable. That will stop most of it at source. Yes you'll never stop anti-social ignorants but it's the average person that needs telling. Problem now is it is considered normal and accepted. Even if there's a sign on every train people will be more willing...

    (more) antisocial behaviour on trains

It keeps getting worse but the open plan carriages don't help. The old compartments seemed more civilised and you'd just be packed in with a few more people which helped with self-awareness, people are less self-aware of how their noise impacts someone a few rows back. But then it was pre-mobile...

    (more) antisocial behaviour on trains

They either don't care or just have no self-awareness or social-awareness. I always have my audio device ready on public transport (for my ears only) because peace and quiet/minimal noise is unlikely to last long unless it's a quick journey. And why is it always the first thing for people...

Chiltern Railways train stuck for 5 hours

There was football on, and Solihull who are right on that route from Moor Street, but fortunately they didn't sell that many tickets as they play in Wembley again this week and with it being play offs it was short notice - also not a big fanbase. Therefore they took a few thousand rather than...

Chiltern Railways train stuck for 5 hours

Reading through their social media on Sunday (Twitter/X) Chiltern's customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

    Euston 24-26th May...

At least they should have trains after the game. Liverpool were playing in it in 2022 and the one charter train back, left during the penalty shootout.

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Been clear for 18 month though. Nobody cares about these strikes and haven't done for a long time.

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Don't they usually target weekends? Especially with it being a bank holiday.

    Dangerous boarding procedures at Euston

They think if they just shut the gates whenever there's overcrowding then they'll be okay.

    Merseyrail again.

They've not that long been refurbished, when Cerntral got a bit of a makeover a few years ago. A bit of maintenance wouldn't go amiss but that doesn't mean months of closure. 1705359625 Not to mention the 'do not travel' warnings every time the wind gets going.

Avanti WC down the pan again

It's a quiet time of the year once the schools go back in Jan, and if there's no big event on, but it would have been hellish in December or during school holidays, or if there was a big match on.

Avanti WC down the pan again

    Cancellations galore again.

Could West Midlands Trains operate 8 cars on their Birmingham to Liverpool service?

Issue at the moment is Avanti services are cancelled all over the place, which makes any 4 car LNWR on the services around that maxed out.

    Storm Gerrit related disruptions-27/12/23

Yeah, Scotland has had much of the worst of it the last week. With extreme weather all travel can be affected. I've been stranded in the cold outside Preston station too often though to trust Avanti to get me north of Preston one way or the other.

    Storm Gerrit related disruptions-27/12/23

It's got to the point where if there's a bit of rain due or it's windy, I would not risk travelling by train. A short commute at most and that would be with a contingency in place for any return. The railways don't have the contingencies these days. I wouldn't travel north of Preston with...

Avanti WC down the pan again

Pete for Avanti is ruder. "You're not being kidknapped" the other day when someone complained about their service. And they have the nerve to make be kind posts. These people shouldn't be working in customer service

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

Nationalisation is pretty futile in effectiveness when the government have been at war with the rail industry/unions.
