Does anyone know the shift patterns for Kilkerran SB? It's just south of Maybole on the Ayr to Girvan line. Just got offered it after a 6 month wait.

All four lines were successfully powered up on 28th December. Still plenty of snagging to be done before fit for train services.

Electric services to Newport due to start from 15 Dec according to brief I was at today.

    Great Western Electrification Progress

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of other electrification work available at the moment or in the near future. Many have already been paid off with plenty more to follow after Christmas. Linemen are leaving the country for overhead work or going into non-electrification or non-railway work...

Yes. Once it has been energised, as it was in Week 25 for testing, it must be regarded as live and normal isolation procedures apply.

There's another blockade scheduled in Wales for Week 30, 18-21 Oct 19.

Don't believe Severn Tunnel is live. Everything else in Wales is under "permanent" isolation while works continue.

Yes, but as of this morning it is now energised all the way from Bristol to St Bride's.

Re-reading this, it's not as clear as I intended! Too many night shifts! The St. Bride's section was energised as far as Maindee Junction, just to the East of Newport Station. The sub-section from Maindee out to St Bride's itself has not yet been energised but should be soon.

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Good linemen and good electrification teams are not as readily available or as easy to train as you seem to think. It took years to build up a decent electrification capability in Scotland and It will take years to replace if electrification doesn't start again soon. Regardless, it will still...

If, and it's a very big if, the line is energised to St Bride's on 14 Sep as planned, there is still a large backlog of work to complete before it will be fit for commissioning.

General consensus among the worker bees is that 14 Sep (NR week 25) is a very ambitious target for energisation verging on overly optimistic (not quite the terms being used!).

No solution as yet. Some talk about permanently earthing the tunnel section and running on diesel through it.
