Just wanted to say how impressed I was with a recent trip last week from Motherwell to Milton Keynes on this service. Very comfy seats , regular trolly service and staff on hand throughout the journey. It wasn’t that cheap, as i travelled at short notice and i returned on Avanti - which was 25...
Don’t they alternate the stations? So the next to Northampton will be Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley and omit Hemel and Berko? They do this in evening peaks
The whole ‘via…’ is quite unnecessarily unless there is more than one route. It’s ok for
‘Via Birmingham New St’ for Glasgow to Euston - or ‘via Northampton’ for New St to Euston- n
I meant, in comparison to Rugby and MK, local stations that have cheaper fares to London and Birmingham available due to having a choice of operator.

Do you honestly think that fares will reduce once there is only one operator? Nothing will change.
Yeah, that’s ridiculously dear, especially for travel to Luton Airport. Wellingborough always used to boast of ‘intercity trains’ back in the day. Can’t be said these days.
I don’t live in Northampton- or anywhere near, I was just commenting as I used to travel there regularly
Can’t you? There isn’t any rail competition from Northampton as there is only one operator. For example, a ticket from MK to Bham offers two operator fares , one significantly cheaper than the other. Same with fares to Euston. Northampton only has the substandard services (LNR) and only one set...
I did the former on Sunday and the service was horrific. Took LNWR service to Crewe (delayed) missed connection at Crewe… 40 min wait at Crewe. The LNWR service was 4 carriages and full and standing for the entire journey. Then no service to Glasgow as the 18:09 was the last. I live near...
I said, ‘every other’ service. As I said, not many tend to get off at these stops, TPE serves these stations adequately . No, I don’t think Wigan really deserves through services with Warrington and Preston both adequate. Preston is only 10 minutes away . Also it’s part of Greater Manchester...
You clearly weren’t trying to reach Motherwell yesterday early evening from MK?! - absolute shambles. Why argue? It’s a perfectly reasonable suggestion that MK should be included on more of the Euston-Glasgow services! Remember MK has a catchment of Luton, Bedford and Northampton for its rail...
Lack of MKC stops on Glasgow services is a concern. There is huge demand too. I regularly travel between Motherwell and MK by rail. I’d welcome a better service. Could they maybe pull Wigan or every other Oxenholme or Lancaster?
They stop more frequently??

Northampton is still ignored! - obviously the loop isn’t great but a decent upgrade wouldn’t have gone a miss for passengers wanting direct travel on the WCML
