A few Saturdays ago, due to the engineering blockade through Wimbledon, the usual 1S77 23:22 Waterloo to Woking (via Hounslow and Chertsey) was extended all stations down to Alton, arriving in at 01:48. Technically it was two headcodes split at Woking, but worked by the same Basingstoke guard...

The 458/4s appear to have a handful of booked workings again from the upcoming September timetable alteration. Just perused our updated turns and surprised to see 458s diagrammed on some of them.

As do 701s, which also have sinks far too small such that you end up flooding the floor with water, awful unflattering lighting and, from first hand experience, are so cheaply made that you can pry the "locked" door open with a bit of force if you so wished to.

There's also a Pepperpot stop (albeit as one word) in Godalming.

Not necessarily a "low capacity" station, but Twickenham has always stood out to me as being rather spartan for such a busy station, with no waiting rooms and not very much adequate shelter either - really quite a miserable and uncomfortable place to wait in the wind and rain.

That is correct. With the SDO now being an automatic system (ASDO) using beacons as opposed to manual SDO, 6 coaches are able to be opened at Bentley on a 450. I haven't worked a 444 down there in a very long time so can't remember how many coaches open off the top of my head without checking...

Take a look at the Project Mapping website if you haven't already. A huge collection of maps on there - some good, some not so good. There's bound to be one on there you like. My personal favourite (and the one I use the most) is this one.

What I'll tend to do is fill up a small spray bottle with water and spritz myself with it regularly. I don't work for ScotRail, but at my TOC, on the odd occasion all lines through my home depot are shut due to engineering works, typically we'd all just revert to sitting spare. In reality, that would mean sign on and get told to go home if nothing is running at all. I suspect it may be similar...

I'm very much a fan of the "Lakes Connection" livery used by Stagecoach on their buses in the Lake District. Think it looks both smart and appealing. The "Lakesider" livery previously used on their buses for the open-top 599 was also really quite nice.
