Is it not possible to utilise the normal no trains period overnight and offload to a prepared loading point alongside? I think this has been done in Scotland for timber and pipes. Also the now defunct Redland Train has offloaded Stone to the trackside in numerous locations.

Re the NYMR. There is a pole route between Newtondale Halt and about the 14 MP. The route up to the 14mp is then through the forest. I think it is in use for the emergency phone at the Halt.
