And I haven't seen anyone dismiss that opinion - though I'm not sure how you speak for most drivers.

The only one I see dismissing others' views is you. Here you are assuming that the comments of others come from a minimum of experience, however much they actually have. There have been other drivers saying they don't see the same as you. It's quite possible you're both being completely truthful...

Trivia: Free bus routes that still exist today.

These are of course now run by Nottingham City Transport, though only the 901, 903 and 906 remain. When I was a student the only route was between Sutton Bonnington and University Park

Trivia: tickets that can *ONLY* be CCST

Good to know. I'll rephrase that to "when I tried a while ago I couldn't find any sites that would offer it as an e-ticket" (I was trying to buy a ticket for 2 family members and wanted to just be able to send them the e-ticket. I ended up buying 2 advances for a similar price once I could be...

The cheapest National Express tickets are like rail Advances - only valid on that service. Other services may have been offered at a higher price. They also sell flexible tickets that can be changed. It's not clear what type of ticket the customer held.
