The only one I see dismissing others' views is you. Here you are assuming that the comments of others come from a minimum of experience, however much they actually have.
There have been other drivers saying they don't see the same as you.

There's also the fact that Edinburgh Airport want the coaches to be on stand for as short a time as possible. When travelling towards where, my coach waited at a stop shortly before, presumably to stay within the limits they're allowed.
I think that adverts to "book a seat in this service up to 10 minutes before departure" when staff on board already know there's a set change and the entire train will not have reservations may count.
These occur fairly frequently.

The cheapest National Express tickets are like rail Advances - only valid on that service. Other services may have been offered at a higher price. They also sell flexible tickets that can be changed.
It's not clear what type of ticket the customer held.
