That’s not the case in this instance. Only Glasgow was advertised internally, every other depot was advertised to both internal & external candidates at the same time.
There was a rumour that the wording on the contract was incorrect and management signed it off without properly checking it.
We are the only company with this type of contract for trainees, so could well be true.
Glasgow currently has an internal vacancy for trainee driver. There are plenty of applicants, so I fully expect them to fill it.
As far as I’m aware there isn’t any plans for external trainee driver vacancies at the depot for the foreseeable future.

Have you been down to the depot and spoke to any drivers, etc?
Also, ...
Totally agree with Marklund, at my depot there wasnt any technical jobs available for the apprentice after 3 years. He has now been slotted into track inspections, not really fair on him. I know of other depots where the exact same thing is happening to apprentices, put into positions that dont...
Hi Steve,
I do have railway experience, but I wouldnt say this was necessarily a big factor in being successful. The application stage is straight forward in that you should be tailoring your answers to meet the requirments of the role.
The tests are a total lottery, I failed the dots test...
