DSC is Driver Standard Composite. This designation is from when half the vehicle was without seats to accommodate checked luggage.
STD is Standard (T) Disabled.
Not actually sure on the T as I can't find where it's specified. Could be Toilet or Trailer but given that none of the other vehicles...
It'll all come to light in time but it's basically for training use.
Not sure who these reports are from but it's incorrect. The DSC is being disposed of. The STD is key for training purposes.
NRM stated it wasn't viable unfortunately but they would have been interested.
Also note that the front ends of the 332s were initially built as black so if anything it's returning 001 to as-built condition.
Expect to see more of 001 in the coming days too ;)
Having discussed this with the DfT, the notion of locking toilets out isn't seen favourably. Reducing accessibility to comply with accessibility regulations isn't wise.
722 has long been considered withdrawn internally so this is the first 'proper' withdrawal.
Nothing to do with the interior or sub-class. All about mechanical condition.
Interesting first section. Why would they order anything more when they're replacing the entire fleet? Also, why keep the 379s when it's actually cheaper to lease a 720. Besides, to make the stock homogeneous makes sense from a maintainability perspective.
I've been fortunate enough to on...
They have the marker lamps built in. TfL decided they wanted them separate.
The cab is a different shape. You'll note with the 720s there is more of an upward sweep on the side compared to the 345s.
NCP 17 road should be back in action any day now (Monday I think?) which is big.
Correct regarding the 2 central bogies and 2 extreme end bogies being powered. The rest aren't articulated throughout however, they're articulated in 6 pairs of coaches.
Test run schedules are really ramping up with more or less one per day or night for the next couple of weeks.
For anyone interested I hear the first pan-up test was successfully completed the other day without having pulled the wires down.
Correct. Until Q-PAC, GA don't pay a penny.
Also, a lot of conspiracy theory nonsense about 'cost cutting' on here meaning 1st class is out. Utter dribble.
This has been on the DfT's agenda for some time and has been mentioned on here, standard only on 720s and 755s is a franchise deliverable.
