When I was going to work the other day the staff at Nottingham station were busy putting up some information boards with the EMR branding. I spotted a re-branded train as early as last Friday.
EMT Twitter are annoying a lot of people. They’re just copying and pasting stock responses to everyone whether appropriate or not.
I have just asked them whether the local service from Leicester to Nottingham (the Lincoln Central Service) will be okay tomorrow as I need to get to work.
Their...
Also if it’s your second if it’s an approved ‘exemption’ subject (STEM or nursing)
I’m doing a Combined STEM (bit like an Open Degree but just STEM subjects- this also covers the Social Sciences, my pathway is Sports Psychology) this is my second undergrad (3rd degree in total as I have an MA...
I have an OU degree and I’m on my second now. The degree certificate comes by post; you can choose to attend any OU graduation ceremony after your degree is conferred or none at all; I live in Leicester but I attended the ceremony at Gateshead Sage as I am from Newcastle and my family live...
When I studied Law GBH meant something serious like a broken bone (admittedly this was 20 years ago at A Level) And my previous nursing career tells me that an injury requiring multiple hospital appointments and surgery as it has is not a minor cut! Sounds to me like a complex fracture which I...
I got a bus pass for anxiety (although it was more because at one stage I used to have panic attacks so bad that I had fits) so it’s not always that clear cut. I have one automatically now as I get enhanced rate mobility PIP but the ironic thing is I can now drive a car (I’ve not had a fit in a...
Totally with you on this one. If someone gives up their seat for me I will always either say thank you or at the very least I will nod and smile (I have very bad social anxiety so I can’t always speak coherently) Manners cost nothing!
As a retired mental health nurse, who also suffers with mental health problems and provides emotional support to my fiancé who is quite disabled by his mental health problems- I was very interested in this and it was very thought provoking. I am studying psychology too but I hadn’t thought of...
I was on LNER train once that was extremely busy. I had booked Passenger Assist and I had a reserved seat. I was assisted on and into my seat at Peterborough, and soon after leaving Peterborough a woman came along with a big family group and told me to move as my seat ‘was hers’ I politely said...
There are some motorway service stations that are very good but few and far between. Gloucester service station is fantastic- it has a farm shop which sells fresh produce from local farms and their handmade pasties are sublime. Far nicer than the usual Ginsters type fare.
When the display which shows the stations etc inside the carriage shows a totally different service.
I got on the Leicester-Birmingham New Street train last Sunday but according to the display we were going from Nottingham to Cardiff Central!
I was on the 0924 LEI-STP this morning and it was slightly delayed, but only by a couple of minutes. It did state on the screens ‘a problem under investigation’ and I did wonder what the issue was.
I was caught in the chaos at MKC (where I was trying to get to) the other week and ended up abandoning my journey at Rugby and getting a taxi.
I claimed the full amount for the cab back on expenses (fortunately my uni, where I had a meeting, were fantastically understanding about this) I didn’t...
When I travel with my wheelchair I’m often put in first class but I don’t expect any freebies- end of the day I didn’t pay for them!!
When my parents came down here for my graduation recently I paid a substantial amount of cash for them to travel in first on LNER between Newcastle and...
I think they’re closed now- I was last in Leicester station on Saturday morning and not only were the shutters down but there was a barrier in front of them so that looks pretty final to me. Every time I’ve been in there they were disgusting so no great loss to be honest.
This was at 11.30 in the morning!
I’ve often been on the late train back from Notts to Leicester and I’ve not seen anything to the extent I saw that day and never once have I felt unsafe.
I used to live in Liverpool back when I used to drink I’ve been on late night trains there and yes there’s...
