What a surprise - Cross Country and their "we don't give a s**t if someone is sitting in your reserved seat" policy - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3224978/Eight-months-pregnant-woman-forced-stand-train-half-hour-businessman-refused-seat-d-booked.html
That's interesting. A couple of years ago I was on a Crosscountry service, someone was sat in my reserved seat, the train was full. I stood in the vestibule and despite saying that I've got a reserved seat, the inspector said, "nothing I can do about it, what the hell do you expect me to do...
I lived in London for 5 years in the 1990s. I don't think I ever got decent service on the LU. Dirty, cramped trains. Rude and obnoxious ticket and gate staff. Sat in a tunnel for minutes without any clue from the driver what is happening. Yet they go off on strike, despite being on the...
Just read the font of all knowledge, Wikipedia, that seems to suggest, without citation, that TPE trains could stop there in the near future. How would this sort of route work?
Thanks David, just checked on Wiki and it's not changed much!

I have hundreds of these photographs. Some titled some not.
The only information I have on the back of this photograph is 19 August 1972....

If a ticket inspector attempted to penalty charge you despite your origin station being one with no ticket facilities, would that inspector be attempting fraud?
It seems that it's only one way with these chaps, that "the unwashed" are always the villains and the inspectors are clean and scot-free.
Interestingly, staff at Waterloo BR used to regularly turn down London Travelcards if they were purchased via London Underground, as they didn't show a BR logo. That was in the mid 90s. Despite being told to accept them by management, the gate staff regularly refused them.
What you are happy when passengers who commit errors are prosecuted but not when the toc "commits an error"?
Thats hypocrisy.

Any need for that?

I didnt say loads of compensation.

I'd send it as the first. From reading this part of the forum, the train companies don't usually bother giving people 'second chances' or so forth and will prosecute teenagers for pennies.
It really is amazing the hypocrisy here where the general mood is to support train companies in...
Then why don't train companies do the same, instead of blackmailing people into paying "a charge" to stop them going to court?
End of the day, the only way to stop these "administrative errors" is putting back their bullying ways directly to them.

You could say that about customers who make an error (as opposed to a conscious attempt at fraud) but are penalty charged or prosecuted every single day.
No it's not terrible advice. Why do so many people side with the train companies, who's only commitment is towards making money and not necessarily making the service any better?
To chase a debt that no longer (or did not exist) is just as against the law as boarding a train without paying for...
