DB - Berlin Brandenburg to Leipzig Hbf ticket sheet

Thanks. There appear to be other options with 2 connections in between the hourly ICE trains, which gives us a back up if the first ICE trains is candelled Sadly we would be travelling with the almighty Ryanair (hurray, not!) so your last suggestion won’t apply

DB - Berlin Brandenburg to Leipzig Hbf ticket sheet

Ok many thanks for the advice The following day, we will be travelling back to Brandenburg for a flight back to the UK. The flight is at 11:30am, there are trains once per hour from Leipzig. Is this a risky move, ie: relying on the train to get us back to the airport in order to catch a flight?

DB - Berlin Brandenburg to Leipzig Hbf ticket sheet

Hi, I am looking at tickets from Brandenburg to Leipzig. I’ve been given 3 ticket options on the DB website, as per image below. Does the Sparpreis ticket allow me to get any ICE train on that route at any time that day, or is it tied to a specific train time that day (much like an Advanced...

    Gatwick Airport station taxis

Thanks for the advice, sounds like the bus is the best option! Unless it’s a nice dry day for a walk, which in December is unlikely. Another amateur question from a non-Londoner…I assume the buses take contactless payments? Or do I need cash?

    Gatwick Airport station taxis

In December I’m taking exams at the CAA HQ at Gatwick. I’m getting the train from Manchester via Euston and London Bridge to Gatwick. I’ve never actually been to Gatwick either by plane or train. My question is…is there a taxi rank for public hire at the station, and how do I access it? I’ve...

    Avanti Pendolino Drags 12/06/24

Was driving north on the M6 early this morning and saw a Pendolino stopped dead on the Down at Plumpton, Cumbria. It had a DRS 57 on the front. It was about 06:20 ish. Later on my way back south I saw another Pendo being dragged southbound by a 57 at Shap about 15:30 ish. Were there OLE...

    Madrid Metro Airport Supplement

Thanks. There’ll be 2 of us travelling, I believe we can buy one multi card and share it, and can add 10 trips which will be enough (we should need 4 trips each). That’s €6.10 for the 10 trips plus €2.50 for the card itself, then 4 x €3 airport supplements. Total that would be €20.60 which is...

    Madrid Metro Airport Supplement

Hi, I’ll be in Madrid for 2 days in April. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos about the ticket arrangements and I have a question which I can’t find an answer to. When using the metro I understand the first thing to do is purchase a multi card from a machine, then add 10 ‘multibus’ journeys...

Avanti West Coast Withdraws Shrewsbury Service From June 2024

Quite. I work on the railway yet haven’t used a train in about 8 months! And that was to get from Manchester to London which, when it runs and isn’t on strike, is usually a pretty good, quick and convenient service compared to driving. Other than that I wouldn’t dream of using a train for...

Four bidders for Elizabeth line operations from May 2025 announced

Ok thanks. So on top of their management fee, which is presumably a fixed % of ticket sales or a fixed amount of money, what other opportunities do they have to make profit? It seems a little uninspiring, to me anyway, for a company to want to run a railway franchise if all they can make is a...

Four bidders for Elizabeth line operations from May 2025 announced

This is probably a really stupid question, but here goes...if TfL keep all the revenue generated by ticket sales, how does the operator make their money?

    PTS Sub-Sponsor

One thing to bear in mind is that if the work you are doing is for a Principal Contractor via a subcontractor, the PC will expect you to be primary sponsored by the company you are working for. For example, a Principal Contractor has some work that needs delivering. They subcontract it to a...

Landslip between Rugby and Coventry. (11/02/24)

That isn’t a simple fix. The vegetation is clearly covering a slumped section of the earthwork which has slipped down onto the track. Assessments of the earthwork will be required to see how deep seated the failure is - there’s a good chance the failed slope and the area either side of the...

    Stick-on Tactile paving

The ORR issued an improvement notice to Network Rail over lack of tactile paving following incidents like the one at Eden Park. Thats why there has been a fairly relentless campaign of installing tactiles across the country in the last 12 months. As has been suggested already in this thread...

Third rail - becoming a better option for electrification?

Your point about OLE is not quite right. The majority of work on lines with OLE require the OLE to be isolated, unless the work can remain 2.75m/9ft away from the OLE. Other than surveining and work done using hand tools at track level, most other work will come within that limit. Remember, on...

    Planned engineering for next year

Also bear in mind the EAS is not the easiest document to navigate for a novice. If you’re looking for disruptive blockades such as bank holiday weekends or Christmas, section 7 is what you want. Section 4 is standard weekend Rules of the Route, and section 5 is standard midweek Rules of the...

Rolling stock which is "stored" at a station platform overnight.

Manchester Picc often has trains stabled overnight, especially midweek when only a handful of the platforms are blocked under possession. Those platforms outside the possession generally have trains stabled in them.
