    Lancashire - could any new stations be built?

    years ago there were stations at Coppull and Standish-the site of Coppull station is largely intact that would be my suggestion.

    you may, or may not be interested to know that last month I suffered a 10 hour journey from Rome to Palermo with ZERO catering facilities, not even a cup of tea. This was n't a one off, it's every day on this route

    Thameslink core "shut" (9-10 April)

    No trains on Thameslink around 5pm April 12 - lineside fire at Hendon. Passengers not being allowed onto the platforms at St Pancras

    Liverpool Overhead Railway

    Most of the LOR was built on stilts if I remember correctly. The big attraction was passing over the ends of the docks enabling passengers to view the Ocean liners, quite a treat in the 1950s. Not sure it would have the same appeal for tourists these days.

    Sorry, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they are the best looking locos in Europe, along with the Vectrons
