    Trainee Driver Application form help

Well be honest. Describe in what ways your job has improved you as a person. What have you learnt since starting? What skills have you developed? Try and focus this around the aspects of a Train Driver that they are looking for. E.g. How do you handle working alone? How have you learnt the...

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Yes, the wording of the e-mail is deliberate for that exact reason. We'll have to wait and see, if too many people pass the phone interview then they'll only progress the best. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Well they've said you're good enough, but it might not be the best...

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Well done mate :). That's a generic message. Until they've completed all their interviews they wouldn't know who the strongest candidates are.

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Thanks mate and well done to you too :). I haven't heard anything yet, I imagine they'll be doing interviews for the rest of the week so they probably haven't scheduled a date for assessments yet. If there's one thing I learnt from other posters it's that the application is a long process.

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Just had a phone interview this afternoon and got an e-mail 15 minutes later saying I passed :). --- old post above --- --- new post below --- The first online test is competency based questions which are scenarios a train driver would potentially be in. E.g. Kids are playing near the line...

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Yeah, it came and went within a couple of days. They usually close the intake as soon as they reach the maximum capacity of applications. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I just received an interview invitation from GWR following my application. Pretty excited, I know it's only the...

    Best entry level jobs

I'm 28, most of my history is within Customer Services and Admin, but I've also been a manager at 2 of my jobs. I managed Customer Services mainly but also briefly helped manage our warehouse (furniture retail).

    Best entry level jobs

Hey everyone, I'd really like to hear your thoughts and opinions on some good entry level positions in the industry. Ideally I'd like to become a driver but appreciate I may need to build up my experience first, and where better than the railway? Please could you give me some examples of...

First Great Western - Trainee Drivers

Interesting to read on the situation with GWR. I am a bit confused though. Why would they recruit for their talent pool if they're expecting a large intake of redundant drivers from elsewhere?

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

They booted you out? Sorry to hear that mate, did they give any explanation as to why? Does anyone know how many people they keep in the talent pool?

    New GWR Trainee Driver Positions

Plenty of time still mate :). Have you considered starting somewhere else in the railway? I'm sure the experience would be invaluable when you get a bit older.

    After the Medical

It could be, I still think there's nothing wrong with calling for a quick update. Just call up and say you just want to check if the 10 days are calendar days or working days. Honestly mate it's no biggie. Remember that they'll have loads of people doing medicals all year round, you're just...

    After the Medical

If they said 10 days and it's been 10 days it's completely appropriate to call them. Nothing wrong asking for an update. I would call them, they wouldn't see at as a nuisance (unless you'd called them every day already ha)
