LRV metrolink driver assessment day, any advice out there?

Tommy, when I had my assessment day we had to do the SCAAT test instead of the dots. If you Google SCAAT test and click on the images link, you can find a picture of the same shapes they use (doesn't seem to be as popular as the dots/letters tests so images are limited). I will add though that...

Thanks for that - that's very useful info. Can't wait to get started now!

    Metrolink Drivers

I'm going to be starting training too in the new year, can't wait. Does anyone know if the training is pretty 9-5 Mon-Fri, or do we get stuck in with the shift work straight away? Don't mind either way, just have no idea what to expect over the coming weeks!

    Metrolink Drivers

Hi all (I recognise a name or two on this thread from the last Metrolink recruitment ), I have also been invited to an assessment evening the week after next. I'm relieved as I applied last time but after being invited to an assessment day had to withdraw my application due to having to...

Northern Rail - Trainee Driver Manchester Stations

Ah, gutted! I've been out of the country for 2 weeks and I've completely missed this. Been waiting so long for something in Manchester to come up too. Guess there's always next time :| Good luck to the rest of you, recognise a couple of names from the Metrolink thread last year!

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

Well done pal, can't say I'm not jealous. Can I ask how far down the page on the speed shapes test you got? I was told I would hear from Metrolink at some point in the future after they phoned a few weeks ago so I've been trying to practice but it's so difficult! Almost dreading their phone...

Tram Driver - Manchester Metrolink - now recruiting

How did you get on Pop79? I had a call from Metrolink a couple of weeks ago (similar questions to those you posted on here) but there was no mention of an assessment day. I was told I'd hear back at some point but they didn't specify when - not heard anything since. Maybe I didn't answer well...

Tram Driver - Manchester Metrolink - now recruiting

Is this from the April/May recruitment? Not got any useful advice for you mate but good luck. Maybe I'll hear something from them after all (won't give up on the wishful thinking :D) Can I ask how they got in touch with you?

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

I was one of that wave and I'm also not totally convinced I've been unsuccessful. Just not thinking about it now but half expecting to hear something at some point. As above, the closures at St Peter's Square, Media City and Eccles lines surely means fewer trams are operating and HR's workload...

Hi L33, Only just seen your message (quite new to the forum and didn't realise you could communicate this way!). I've not heard anything at all from Metrolink. Not sure if we'd hear back if we were unsuccessful? Previous threads seem to suggest we'd at least get the 'unfortunately not this...

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

Well I missed out on that one then! I applied on the round that closed April 30th and didn't think to check for new vacancies again so soon... Did they tell you if you were successful after the phone interview? I wonder if they're still doing the same assessment days to whittle numbers down...

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

Was this the recruitment with the application deadline of April 30th (and deadline to have received a response from Metrolink by May 30th)?

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

I dunno mate, I've not heard anything to say I've not been successful so I'm clinging on to a last bit of hope! Been practising the SCAT and dials tests so I'm well prepared to hear some good news from them

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

If it wasn't for the line at the end of the application about being unsuccessful if we'd not heard by 30th May, I'd allow myself to remain slightly hopeful. Although I suppose with the number of applications they receive there's always a small chance they run over these deadlines they set...

Nothing for me either. Surely we can't all have been this unlucky?!

Anyone heard anything on this yet? 6 days to go before we have to assume we've been unsuccessful...

Tram Driver - Manchester Metrolink - now recruiting

Hi guys, I applied for this post too - also still waiting to hear back (hopefully not a bad sign). Does anyone know how many posts they're recruiting for? It seems in the past they've recruited several in one go, which would make me feel a bit more confident that I might at least get an invite...

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

My thinking too mate. What sort of background do you think they usually recruit from? I've got no experience working with trams/rail so I'm not feeling too hopeful :| still as you say, got to be in it to win it!

    Trainee Tram Driver - Manchester

Do you know how many they're recruiting? I submitted my application yesterday!

    Metrolink recruiting new driver

That's the impression the ad gives, although I know in the past they've recruited several in one go. Trying to work out my chances of success if around 1000 people are applying. Prob not that great anyway but may as well give it a try!
