Or do we blame the staunch unionist company run by Tory Rupert Soames (Winston Churchill's grandson). This isn't a Scottish Nationalist problem it is avproblem that runs throughout thr British Rail Network.
There would be very little reason or point to have two different set of seating. And what would be stopping people in lesser seats just sitting in the reclining seats? Also like I say I have only heard of one type of seating being used - first class standard reclining seats.
Yes I'd certainly say so. Logic dictates there is no way there will be two seated coaches as already berth numbers will decrease with the new ensuite berths so they are never in a million years going to put on another seated coach and lessen sleeping berth numbers even further. The seated coach...
I would take that two classes seating with a mega pinch of salt. As I understand it there will be one seated coach with reclining seats of first class standard but at standard prices.
As I understand it those GBRF staff being used at present are the future train managers. The contract with ScotRail ends shortly and Serco opted out of renewing the contract.
Spot on.
And the only sleeper staff that could police a train sitting at the station are the crew that brought the train from the starting point. They cannot wait until 8.30am and then head up to Invernes/Aberdeen/Fort William and arrive at around noon then be expected to follow up a 16 hour...
Not to everyone is sleep important though. Many a time people stotter out of the lounge car four hours into their journey so to them sleep is not vital to them. The people that travel on the sleeper range from businessmen/politicians to people using it to get home or go on holiday connecting...
Take it from me - the reason replacement Buses are used are because it best suits the needs. Of course it is far from ideal having to leave the train at 3am but it has to be done for the reasons I said as in rolling stock has to carry on to destination as it needs to be there for the return...
A number of GBRF staff trained as conductors have been passed out recently as fairly shortly ScotRail's contract to supply the conductors for the sleeper service runs out. When that happens those GBRF staff will take over as conductors on the sleeper service north of Edinburgh.
That is not a viable alternative though as that rolling stock is required to be in its destination for return journey so cannot sit around in Edinburgh. Besides who polices the service? Who wakes passengers up at 8am? Not the crew as they have to be at their destination for return journey that...
Hotel rooms are not a solution for those that are using the sleeper for work purposes or using it to connect with flights and think of the logistical nightmare. The Highland services easily carries over 150 passengers so even if every single one were in no rush to get to their destination they...
It is totally against all Health and Safety rules and a massive breach of them to allow passengers to travel on a train without a safety-critical trained staff member - a conductor. Even the crew such as hosts and team leaders cannot do this as the rolling stock is only travelling with the...
We are going round in circles here. I am not having a go at maintenance as people have been given those jobs. People who are experts on various rolling stock and less so on others (ie sleeper coach stock). I have said what the problem is here and am awaiting others here to give a viable...
And just to add these faults are reported ad infinitum every night and lo and behold the stock returns into service the following night with the same problem.
You don't understand the working of the system do you? Maintenance send trains into service with these faults but they do not show as faults until the train is in motion and complaints to H and S are therefore of no consequence as it can be claimed the faults weren't there in depot conditions...
It is whole coaches that have the fire alarm faults. They beep intermittently for anything up to a second to five seconds and will continue to do so unless the system.is deactivated. Obviously, passengers are wanting as much of an undisturbed sleep as possible and this cannot be achieved with...
