A lot of the road overbridges in Oxfordshire have developed 'sag' - presumably ground settlement - accentuated after last summer's heatwave. One wonders how many more are at risk of something similar happening, perhaps exacerbated by vegetation roots. The most recent ground frost in...
Edinburgh Avanti running a shuttle to Glasgow for onward services. Very little information and a lot of confusion about alternative routes. Apparently they “issued a Do Not Travel” notice via social media, whatever that is supposed to mean; very few people seem to have heard of it, especially...
A cynic might argue that as Hanborough is just outside both Oxford’s Green Belt and the Cotswold AONB, any train improvements might be a receptacle for future major Southward expansion of the village.....!
Lowland sleeper to Edinburgh cancelled tonight. Serco claiming they contacted all passengers (who booked direct) 12 hours ago, which is a lie.
Passengers are supposed to get on the 06:15 from KX (no offer of accommodation) or apparently there may or may not be a bus.

The ‘UK Train Times’ app has lost its journey planner functionality for the last week or so - annoying, as it was by far the most comprehensive app for everyday use. Is it being discontinued?

There appears to have been a dramatic fall in the availability of cheap advance tickets on any route, presumably down to Westminster traveller-screwing reasons.
Lucky, I would say. My snowbound cancelled journey they are refusing to handle through Automatic Delay Repay or by email. The call centre refused to help and told me I’d have to send the tickets as proof of purchase (for an online transaction on their website) by special delivery, and that...
The service has indeed gone to pot, with large numbers of delays and cancellations.
But people with mobility restrictions already have to drive to Parkway, due to the lengthy ramps with no lift following redoubling at the station in question, and the absence of either regular trains or...
To get to it from many places you’ve got to fight your way through the congested City Bypass, so its catchment is reduced to the Dalkeith area which has a very good bus service, as others have noted.
Inside the bypass, though, the Shawfair development is really gathering pace and it will be...
My last three journeys on the line have all been turbos in place of longer trains. Two of them at peak. None of them the Oxfordshire halts train. Not seen an 800 on the line so far.
