    Favourite trains

I think my favorite ones to work on have to be 150/1 and 150/2s. Or anything where there is two doors between me and the public!

    Class 180's to.....Northern?

I don't think Northern really thought it through when they bought the 180s. Firstly, they dont fit on many of the platforms they work through and secondly, they're prone to breaking down and catching fire! They've just had to chop one up and use it for spares because it was so knackered!

    Northern Rail Class 150 & 142 Refreshment

That would be nice but it's also a longshot. Seeing as though we've been begging for the DKS to be on the outside of the cab for god knows how long!

    Northern Rail Class 150 & 142 Refreshment

That's true. It's impossible, on all units except ones with slam doors, to give the ready to start signal if the TIS (Traction Interlock Switch) isn't operating i.e. If a door is open. You can tell this by the orange hazard lights on the side of the train. But there are three more instances that...

LOL yeah but if we got caught it would be a bit unpleasant!

    Northern Rail Class 150 & 142 Refreshment

Its true that most guards pick up bad habits as they gain experience. I myself have the particularly nasty habit of giving the ready to start signal without closing the local door (however, this is only possible on a 150/1 due to the slam doors).

    rail death boy

I personally have no sympathy for tresspassers. If they're stupid enough to go on the line then they deserve to be picked up with a sponge.

He may have asked the driver to key in for him to save a journey back to his cab. Another definate no no.

    Northern Rail Class 150 & 142 Refreshment

Yeah it would be nice to see the fleet fully refurbished. It's just a pity that Northern would rather spend its money on sponsoring rugby instead of improving its rolling stock.

    Auto Anouncments - Errors/funny sayings

One classic one came from Dave "Meat Pie" Wilson", a Conductor of 30 years based at Buxton and, I may add, one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of working with. On a busy service he waited until he was in Eaves Tunnel between Dove Holes and Chapel on the Buxton Line, turned all the...

    Auto Anouncments - Errors/funny sayings

I've dropped a few clangers myself when I've been making announcements. I once told everyone we were arriving at Whaley Bridge when, in fact, we were terminating at Manchester Piccadilly! Guffaw!
