I think class 9s for Avanti mean they're going through New Street and not Trent Valley.
EL trains are class 9 unless they're going TfL rail style and terminating at the high level platforms
On LO I think only trains that go through the East London Line are class 9
Transpennine Trains doing...
What are the approximate boundaries of West Yorkshire and Central (which i'd assume is maybe like the Sheffield MDU area)
seems like the TRCs are crossing Route boundaries, because doesn't the whole ECML belong to its own NR Route within Eastern while the rest is "North & East"? I suppose in...
Thank you for these, interested to know what it means for the inner and outer NwR TRCs to *not* deal with any class 9 TL services, even though they'll be on the same tracks as other trains.
They should really install a neutral section somewhere at Reading that way Holly Cross could actually be used to take some of the load off, although such an intervention would be much more useful for N-2 of Foxhall because ultimately, without Kensal Green, anything west of Maidenhead is going to...
Ah I see, interesting the Incident Controllers have a smaller remit than TRCs, suggests something of how all these concepts are meant to function. I suppose an incident controller will have a lot of different people to talk to surrounding all the different parties involved in something, whereas...
Longer feeding distances is both an advantage and an disadvantage of the AT system, neutral sections are normally considered a hindrance for all sorts of reasons, but in the case of emergency isolations you suddenly want more of them. I think in some niche cases, neutral sections have been put...
Yeah most likely Didcot ATFS extended past it's usual boundary at Maidenhead to feed as far east as you could go (does anyone know how much was switched back on?). It might theoretically be possible to pull some switches around the Westbourne Park portal to feed Paddington from the XR core but I...
Interesting, thanks. Looks like there was already a division between the Trent Valley+via Stoke lines and the rest that would eventually become a Route boundary.
I think I'm missing something, but if the previous four controllers (WCN, WCS, WM, Ch) are *not* the TRCs? Then who are they?
As you can kinda see on the Google Earth 3d view, I think these cable runs likely carry all the circuits between Kensal Green substation ("A") and the point at which they connect to the OLE ("B") which is not a very long distance at all, so a very unfortunately located fire. I'd imagine at least...
I'd be quite interested to know if anyone can share any examples of how geographies are divided up within a Route by NR Train Running Controllers, and within a company area by TOC Service Controllers (although these are sometimes also called TRCs??). Obviously, I'd imagine it has a lot to do...
Is the Bushey area PSU work actually undergoing construction at the moment? If not it'd be surprising if anything could be done at such short notice.
I do wonder if the issue with Bushey netural section itself is any closer to being resolved? Not being able to separate phase at Bushey would...
Interesting to learn about the consequences of Central and WCML South routes. I think they're trying to make a WCML North route as well, maybe to ultimately join them together like East Coast route?
So what was the justification for NR splitting apart the Midland area into Central and WCML...
It's what they did in Norwich too! As well as attempting to build an electrified swing bridge, there are also 2 cables across the riverbed. I think the Dutch way is to coast over but I presume this isn't an option for Selby. Are there any other fully wired swing bridges out there?
I very much...
I got the impression from some of his videos that Dale may have intended to join a local TOC suggesting he moved out to Peterborough possibly living closer to London earlier on. But for personal reasons that didn't happen.
Interesting that the GN outer suburban routes used to be good enough to...
Yeah it was definitely still 6.6kV but at 50hz. Just about every primary and secondary souce on the subject agrees with that as the scheme was to test on-board rectification of 50hz not to test 25kV clearances which would be the Styal line and the Clacton line.
Thinking about the fact Gilberdike is pretty much 17 miles from both Hull and Hambleton. It does make me think that the plan was to put a midpoint substation at that junction and feed eastwards from a new feeder somewhere in Hull. (Hull South 132kV near to Paragon seems like a good spot to me)...
