    Off the road at Paddington

The HSE guidelines for lifting give a maximum recommended weight of 25kg for a man lifting a stable load close to the body. So I would think that it would need more than a few men to lift a buggy.

Should the Japanese approach to signals be adopted in the UK?

What is the safest position to sit on a train ?

Someone who was on one of the trains in the Bedford collision is quoted on the BBC report as saying that many injuries in 1st class were caused by people hitting the edges of the tables. He also said people were injured due to seats breaking. If that's true it's a bit worrying.

Disabled Bus Pass, are drivers more lenient when they don’t scan

Just show it to the bus driver as they don't work on the readers, though they are valid Most drivers will just nod, though the odd one will point to the reader. I travel to London regularly with a S Yorks pass and never had any problems.

Catering on EMR Intercity following introduction of new Class 810 ’Aurora’ trains

I was on an 810 today for the first time. The main thing I noticed about the catering was that the sandwiches are removed from their packets and served on a plate with a few crisps. More work for hosts to do, also makes it hard to take them off the train to eat later. People will need to bring...

Rail staff serving themselves in front of customers in first where no catering available

I'm sure I've seen the train managers on EMR routinely help the first class hosts serve hot drinks. Happened yesterday. Maybe they are trained to do it.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

No reservations is OK if you can quickly get down the platform at St Pancras when the gates are opened, but if you have mobility issues then knowing that you have a reserved seat removes a lot of anxiety. Particularly if you can not risk having to stand for a long time.
