    Blackpool Trams News

I'm afraid I don't know for sure, it seems like it's the latter. Om a brighter note, trams have been running through to Fleetwood Ferry again since Saturday, following the fire damaged building's scaffolding being made safe. Trams are not stopping at the Northbound London Street stop, as the...

I know he is an outstanding young driver, but yet again today, things do seem to have developed a habit of dropping into his lap.

Trivia: Where tracks from traditional UK tramways still exist

Old tram tracks used to appear regularly at the top of Lichfield Street in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. The last time I saw them was about 20 years ago, when the area was being pedestrianised. Particularly poignant, as Stoke was one of the very first abandonments in 1928.

    Blackpool Trams News

005 has been scrapped to all intents & purposes. It's not believed it will run again. 001, 012 and 017 have either returned or will shortly.

    Blackpool Trams News

I'm in the group, and its 012 receiving vinyls in the traditional green & cream livery. From the side it looks like it could look very good indeed! Also in today's gazette, BT have confirmed that the Western Train & Rocket, will appear as stationary displays (location unknown - possibly Pleasure...

    Blackpool Trams News

I did wonder about all of these fare takers positioned at stops. What's going to happen when people have bought a ticket and then tram after tram comes past that they can't board?

    Blackpool Trams News

It's not so many years since every available tram would be running on illumination weekends. There would often be between 50-70 trams running, depending on crew availability. Even now, BT regularly turn away passengers with fistsful of money, by not providing what they want. Yes, of course there...

    Blackpool Trams News

The trams were a goldmine for Blackpool over many years. You have a captive audience along what is still one of the busiest stretches of seafront in the country. People come to Blackpool & want & expect to travel by tram. Now, many can't, and you can't even blame competition from buses. Everyone...

    Blackpool Trams News

Piece in the Gazette today saying that heritage trams will not run until at least the lightpool festival in October. More worryingly they were mentioning the possibility of static displays! I also forgot to mention in my post about last week, that there are delays between Rossall Square and...

    Blackpool Trams News

Just back from a few days in Blackpool and the situation is mixed. Lots of crush loading as the service clearly isn't adequate for peak season, I dread to think what the illuminations will be like. There are "conductors" positioned on many of the central tram stops, issuing tickets, so that the...

    Blackpool Trams News

According to the Gazette, the temporary scaffolding around the fire damaged building in Lord Street Fleetwood, is currently being replaced with something more permanent. This should allow the reopening of the road, and allow trams to return to the ferry.

What’s the furthest a member of staff can be overcarried one stop?

Surely if someone's been overcarried, there has to be an intermediate stop between the boarding stop, and the stop mentioned, excepting those who were supposed to get off before the train departed of course.

    Supermarkets discussion

I had a complaint about Morrison's giving me a free gift of some "Dots" doughnuts, which it turned out my local store doesn't stock anyway. I complained by email, and got an apology & 5,000 more points. The following week, they actually had some of the doughnuts, and the offer still being in my...

    Blackpool Trams News

If they continue to insist that it's only the paperwork that has a problem, then surely by now, all of the physical work should have been carried out, and a full service should be running?

    Blackpool Trams News

Trams are currently only running as far as Fisherman's Walk in Fleetwood, due to a fire in an empty shop building adjacent to the Northbound London Street stop. It looks as though it may be several weeks before the building is made safe enough for operation to resume.

    Blackpool Trams News

They do seem to be in an awful mess at the moment, for whatever reasons. How quickly the optimism of last summer's improvements has vanished. I can't see the government allowing the system to fail, but once questions of safety start to be raised, concern for the future is only natural.

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

Apologies, I was thinking more about the Cheshire stations Between Kidsgrove & Cheadle Hume. It's still a very poor show.

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

Stoke to Manchester hasn't had a Northern Sunday service for over a year, leaving every intermediate station except Macclesfield, with no service at all.

    Blackpool Trams News

The BT statement makes it sound like it's a service improvement! All for the benefit of passengers. It also seems to imply that this will be the service for the whole of the summer. What a very sad state of affairs. The very least they could have done would have been to increase the frequency of...

    Blackpool Trams News

Thanks for the replies...I think! Just what I wanted to hear when I'm in Blackpool for a few days from Sunday. Not looking forward to the crush loading in the morning peak to Fleetwood, especially as we have lost the empty trams from North Station, for those on the North promenade.
