Re the situation with Crewe, the issue with only the doors on the front three cars opening only arises if the train is routed into plt 6 in the up direction. As Bungle965 says, this is due to the positioning of the balise, which is in the wrong position for trains taking the normal route from...
Can someone please explain why I can't find a fare with PRV discount from St Pancras to Heathrow Terminal 5/Heathrow Rail?
I can find fares to from Heathrow from one station either side i.e. Kentish Town and Farringdon but not from St Pancras itself. This doesn't make sense
Hoping this question isn't off topic as so far this thread has focused on Europe, but does anyone know if the XPT sets are still in regular use in Australia?
From what I remember the ticket barriers comprised of one man* in a booth with a narrow doorway between the booth and a floor to ceiling high fence. The doorway to platform 4 was permanently open when the station was open. I don't know how late in the evening the barrier was manned* until as I...
AIUI the footbridge at the south end of the station was removed around the time that platforms 1-3 were taken out of scheduled passenger use during the Beeching era. During this period the ticket office was moved from the station entrance to the top of the staircase to platforms 4-7. There...
Not sure if it's anything to do with the storm, but 1H91 lost 45 minutes between Mickle Trafford and Frodsham. Ended up scrapping my plans for the evening as a result
I suspect there may be some form of system outage at the moment. I've tried traintimes.org.uk and nationalrail.co.uk this afternoon and both returned error messages rather than train times
Was at Frodsham station this afternoon and my train to Manchester was delayed. The announcement for this delay (13 minutes) was played every 60 seconds from 3 minutes before the train's schedule arrival until it actually arrived. This was despite the length of the delay never changing. Surely...
Of the operators I've used for more than one round trip this year, which are Avanti West Coast, Crossrail, Merseyrail, Northern and Transport for Wales, I would say:
Best: Transport for Wales. Despite being the operator I travel with most, I've not experienced a single cancellation and only...
Used Crossrail on two separate days recently travelling to/from Heathrow T4. First time was fine. Second would have been a nightmare had I been trying to catch a flight rather than going to a hotel as there was a 35 minute gap in the service to T4. Cancellations may not be an issue for those...
AFAIK there is no underpass for horses (or anything else) at Norton Crossing which appears to be quite well used by locals. What will happen to its usage levels when all he proposed housing is built remains to be seen. I believe the road from Murdishaw to the crossing is to be retained as some...
in my experience they've been very 'reliable' recently. Two times in the last month I've saved at least half an hour by catching a late running Trans Pennine Express and not having to wait for a Northern local
