    you will find that trains of the IC, EC, RJ and NJ caterorgy are loco hauled. Regional services it is a minority of lines. ICE-L is just being introduced. Also Flixtrains are loco hauled.

    the news here suggest that inferior spare parts were used. Apparantly by the end of August the issue is to be resolved. Bonn now borrowed some vehicles from Cologne.

    Engineering can happen but the general timetable is pretty decend on sundays. Most trains run hourly.

    600 meters of power line came down (according to RTÉ) . Possibly caused by a defective pantograph (my interpretation). "Several roof-mounted arms that connect the train to the overhead electrical wires were damaged, along with around 600 metres of power lines."

    usually the national operators are best. You may find SNCF beeing a little cheaper.

    they seem to be off the U18. The much older Stadtbahnwagen are used on that now, so the Messe/Gruga line seems to be the last haven for them.

    crap coaches can be worse than a good unit. Take the RailJet2. I suffered it on the Munich-Bologna trip. I gladly take Freccia any day.

    when it runs it changes locos at Weimar, but it has not in a while and its doubtful if it will ever again.
