there are tripcock 'detectors / testers' for want of a better word at Amersham S/B and Harrow N/B. Signal clears when tripcock runs over a treadle. Its the reason for the very slow pass through Harrow for non-stop trains, which causes no end of confusion for passengers who think the train is...
Hi Would anyone be able to help with the two 197 units that worked 1W95 Cardiff to Holyhead from Chester onwards yesterday 22/01/2026?
3 car 197 arrived from Cardiff and coupled to another 3 car 197 in Platform 3A, which left Chester 15 mins late. Train then failed at Saltney Junc and returned...
Lot more than three! The concern is that a two carriage train will not be sufficient. Much local debate about car parking costs and the town being gridlocked by parking in side streets. Everyone wondering why its taking so long to get it opened. But as Chiltern are involved it shouldn't have...
Used a maltese cross ticket to exit at Oxford Circus yesterday. Didn't work the barrier as expected, but the staff member let me out with no problem and reminded me that I couldn't use the ticket to resume my journey from there, so some staff clearly know
Last night's 1700 Euston to Holyhead, 805001, the engine under coach C wasn't working. Didn't really get any later after Chester, most of the lateness being the ridiculous splitting of the incoming 10 cars, already 10 mins late, down to 5 in the platform at Euston, resulting in a 20 mins late...
Thanks for the explanation. Why couldn't the other pantograph be used?
Still no resolution to the never working seat reservations, which seems to be related to either the short turnrounds at Euston or joining sets at Chester
On 1500 Euston to Holyhead. 805010 and 805012. Arrived in to Euston on electric but just before departure diesels were started and we're now running down the electrified WCML on diesel power, not lost too much time as yet.
On 1A14 0648 Holyhead to Euston. 805003. Crew have had to do a complete reset at Llandudno Jct. Back under way, but now 16 mins late

1A14 805003 has now slowed to a crawl approaching Watford Jct and changed back to diesel engines.
Always have the problem in reverse at Marylebone with the return portion of an off-peak return to the North West in the morning peak period. Barriers always reject, then the staff member will tell me it's not valid as its an off-peak ticket. When I point out it is valid, they open the gate...
Not a good morning so far. 0548 Holyhead to Euston terminated at Crewe, traction problem.
0648 Holyhead to Euston no heating or reservations in front unit (805009). Gradually losing time as normal
on 06:48 Holyhead to Euston, 805007, seat reservations worked fine to Chester but when coupled up to the additional 5 cars (805012) at Chester all seat reservations disappeared. Train Manager apologised for 'software fault' .
