I agree the rail industry shouldn’t be reliant on overtime working as heavily as it is.
However, if the unions were genuinely interested in putting a stop to it they could do it right now. Have their members stop working the overtime requirements and the TOCs would soon start making...
Bring Sunday into the working week, spreading cancellations out across the entire week whilst additional staff are brought on.
Or maybe the additional staff won’t be needed, must be some staffers out there who rely on the overtime to top-up their pay checks.
The hold the unions have over this...
As someone who suffers from IBS and got stuck on a tube train for 70 minutes last year, I can tell you it’s not nice! We were sandwiched in a tunnel and were unable to move as a one under had occurred ahead of us and there were already several trains in the tunnel behind us. Fortunately for me...
Have a gripe with XC about the toilets at the moment. Quite often they run out of toilet tissue, even on Sundays when a Voyager might only cover 300 miles or so. The CET tanks seem to fill a lot too resulting in toilets locking out of use. On a busy voyager it can be a pain to try and get...

The iPhone 8 model and above will actually work with anything up to 87W. (See https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208137)
I’m using the XC app which is similar to others. Off peak return tickets remain under the active tab until the full month of validity has passed. The ticket can still be opened but reads “ticket used”.
Tickets have to be activated prior to departure for them to be valid. In my opinion they are...
So for all intents and purposes the station is not open?
Even if a reported went around (and they may have) and seen all the buses, they may still come to the conclusion the station is closed, which it is.
EDIT: Is an image of the station sealed off with police tape on MEN at 7AM this morning.
Only a handful of services impacted then. Doesn't seem significant, there have been a handful of cancellations and short terminations the past few weekends and even some weekdays for a few weeks now.
XC have been running a few additional services out of Piccadilly on Saturday evenings, some to Stoke, presumably to cover axed Nothern diagrams due to strikes.
