Considering the Hooton branch is relatively quit they could of had a longer turn around time at Helsby, it is the reason why me and a lot of others didn't get chance to visit the station.
I left my car at Frodsham even though i live in EP, so I ended up getting the 15:22 from Central arriving...
The livery and interior of today is in my eyes the worst of the lot!
I wish I knew it was in southport when it was, I do have the book and have just realised where I seen those pictures.
Very good turn out for the Hooton helsby 150, as much as I hate 142's I wish it could of been due to the stuffy cooked up nature of the 156 on that particular day, but I still enjoyed it just like most of you did, and I don't think the driver will get into trouble as it was only a booked service...
I still cant understand why they didnt use 3rd rail?
Cheaper
Easier
Environmentally friendly (unlike the eyesore they're putting up)
and a hell of a lot safer!
508 123 is more speacial than you may think, It is the only unit on the network to ever carry Arriva trains livery and the Speacial Merseyrail livery, it is also made up of 2 trains (508118 I think???)
I don't see what the big problem is, all the materials used on trains are fire - resistant. It wasn't too long ago when all Virgin and most recently GNER trains had smoking carriages.
the HST's maybe getting on a little now but I would still call it a premature death considering they have been well looked after and the excellent condition they are in. It was published by an official report that the majority of HST sets could easily manage to run till 2035!
