This is an expensive TPE-priced flow, could anyone help me find a way of reducing the cost a journey departing Wakefield on a Friday and coming back from Whitby on a Sunday?
For a same-day return I have previously used tickets from Wakefield-Cross Gates, Cross Gates-Pontefract (though I have...
It is obvious that the derelict Healey Mills yard in Wakefield has no future in its current state, but there are a few things I'm unsure about:
Who owns it? Is it leased to or owned by DBS?
Is the yard to be lifted soon - the main offices were being demolished on Friday?
Are there any plans...
Do Northern sell these on the train? I'm unclear as the SYPTE website says:
Whereas NRE says:
So, has anyone done this before/is it possible to buy it on the train? I will most likely be boarding at a station in West Yorks and intend to buy a ticket to the South/West border and also a SY...
Recently two new portacabins have been put next to the old Cobra sidings opposite platform 3 at Wakefield Kirkgate. One of them has a big 'DB Schenker' sign on it. I would guess this is intended to replace Healey Mills as a driver signing on point?
As a regular Wakefield line passenger I have noticed that in the last few weeks 321903 hasn't been sounding (and sometimes smelling) too good.
It has been shaking a lot when on full power and a few weeks ago the carriage I was in (pantograph car) 'smelt of burnt toast' as the guard put it...
I don't usually plug but this video may be of interest to some. It shows 66024 going under Walton footbridge on the Monk Bretton branch, 60065 going on the curve between Oakenshaw South and Oakenshaw junctions, 66024 clagging up the mainline towards Hare Park junction and light engined 60065...
I saw this today on the 1Z05 Toton TMD - York and the consist was 82146, 3 MK3 coaches and 67029 'Royal Diamond'.
The first carriage had several small windows (paired together), the second looked like a buffet car and the third looked like a normal carriage. Does anyone know why the train ran...
Tonight at 20:01 a class 91 (GNER white stripe) went through Sandal and Agbrigg (near Wakefield) light engine heading northbound towards Leeds. Can anyone ID the loco?
Thanks :)
Does anyone know the headcodes of the light engine movements from Kingswear to Paignton and back, where the loco refuels and gets water?
Thanks in advance. :)
I don't know wether this has already been posted but Grand Central plan to stop calling at Pontefract due to low passenger numbers, replacing it with a stop at Mirfield.
From this article in the Pontefract and Castleford Express:
and:
So does this mean after going through Kirkgate to London...
On 18/12/10 I saw a GBRF coal train (towards Leeds) and FL intermodal (other direction) pass through Wakefield Westgate station at about 3PM. Is this a normal working and does it then go through Kirkgate or carry on down the Wakefield line?
Any help appreciated, thanks.
The White Rose - London King's Cross to Leeds railtour is listed on the A1 steam website and on the UK steam railtour list but I can't seem to find it on the Steam Dreams website, which is supposed to be the booking agent. Has this tour been cancelled or have Steam Dreams just not advertised it...
