My hope is that more electrification happens at least on the following as bolt ons to the IRP
Leeds-Bradford-Halifax
Rochdale-Manchester
Mirfield-Brighouse-Rochdale
Copy Pit line to Preston for E Lancs towns
Wakefield-Sheffield (both routes)
Sheffield-Doncaster-Hull
Leeds-Hull
Middlesbrough...
Just wondered what people think the Government will actually do to improve connectivity between the 7 major cities in Yorkshire and how they will ultimately connect Leeds and York to HS2?
I still wish we could be put out of our misery re the fate of Phase 2b. As I have asked in other threads does anyone know when the IRP or the Transport department's net zero strategy will be published- I note the COP General debate in Parliament tomorrow so could it be then?

I think the opposite. The line via Bradford is more in need of transformation which can only be achieved by new build

CP7 is 2024 to 2029. My view is still that some elements (probably including Hudd- Staly electrification) will be deferred until CP8. But hope I'm wrong

Trouble is right now no one knows when leisure travel will be allowed. I don't see it before late summer so these May cuts are probably justified. I think airport travel will be limited for most of...
WYCA is working on a mass transit network that will costs £4.2bn and will submit a business case to Government next year
The plan will link the whole county using existing lines and some disused routes like Spen Valley and Bradford- Halifax via Queensbury and is planned to help connectivity...
I do wonder what the future holds
I want Northern to be able to deliver a reliable and consistent timetable when the new stock has bedded in and to eventually at least be able to deliver its TSR requirements and not be in breach
What does everyone else think will happen on our network this year?
I would serve Manchester Airport with 14tph
These would be as follows
1tph Airport- Crewe- Chester and North Wales Coast
1tph Airport- Crewe- Hartford- Runcorn- Liverpool Lime Street
1tph Airport- Crewe- Stoke- Derby
1tph Airport- Manchester- Stockport- Sheffield
2tph Airport- Manchester-...
I am hoping that HS2 will relieve the southern end of the ECML just as much as the WCML by rerouting London to Leeds, Newcastle and Scotland services to take advantage of high speed. Would that have the effect of relieving the Welwyn bottleneck?
This is how I think they could or should serve MIA
1tph Airport- Manchester- Stalybridge- Huddersfield- Leeds- York- Darlington- Durham- Newcastle
1tph Airport- Manchester Picc- Man Vic- Rochdale- Halifax- Bradford
1tph Airport- Manchester- Stalybridge- Huddersfield- Leeds- York- Northallerton-...
Maybe they should let XC run via Leeds more than once per hour? Think they want to but the DfT won't let them. It would certainly alleviate overcrowding on the current service
