Unable to collect prepaid ticket as machine offline, shall I pay or go to court?

I purchased my ticket online 8 days before my journey. I tried to collect my ticket from Stamford Station 15 mins before the journey to Birmingham New St (a Cross Country service). Unfortunately the machine was offline at the time so I was unable to print the ticket. The station is also unmanned...
