Legal Tender and paying for rail travel

Mod Note: Posts #1 - #17 originally from this thread. If the requirement is to pay in legal tender then Scottish notes are not acceptable and the correct amount must be tendered. Scottish notes aren't even legal tender in Scotland. If payment is sought in legal currency then payment can be made...
