Only one that comes to mind is Cross Country trains occasionally skipping Tamworth and/or Burton in Staffordshire, although I'm sure a few more will come to mind when they're mentioned!
Every current TOC with the exception of GWR, Scotrail, Cross Country, Transpennine Express and South Western now has the same colour scheme - a white carriage with the door in the main colour of the TOC. Is there a reason why they're mostly all following the same formula, perhaps a sign of...
An idea that has been discussed on here numerous times but always an interesting discussion. How would you do it, if it came to pass?
One good idea was to merge the Yorkshire and North Eastern half of Northern with LNER, and have the North Western routes under its own franchise (North Western...
We remember the red of West Yorkshire PTE, the grey, green and red of Greater Manchester, and the yellow of Merseyside and Tyne & Wear. Is there any reason SYPTE didn't get its own livery?
It was a brilliant simulator. Very basic but I was part of the main Yahoo group where there were some fantastic layouts, such as Greater Manchester, Merseyside, the Great Western Main Line, North West England and North East England. And these layouts were very accurate too.
Unfortunately that's...
Would we go back to the old InterCity, Network SouthEast and Regional Railways arms of British Rail, or would they be called something else? What would the liveries look like? Would all the stock be retained for the same routes or would they be shared (for example, would Pendolinos work on the...
Does anyone know anywhere where I might be able to find old timetables and diagrams for former TOCs? More specifically, the first wave of post-privatisation companies? So the likes of Northern Spirit/Arriva Trains Northern, Central Trains, Virgin, GNER, First North Western, Midland Mainline...
Before the Ordsall Chord I remember eastbound TPEs out of Manchester Piccadilly would loop through Victoria and then head towards Leeds along the Calder Valley Line and then through Brighouse. The Ordsall Chord is only recently built but I can't find on Google maps where this former line that...
I used to love Rail3D back in the day and I remember there being some great Manchester, Liverpool and Yorkshire layouts on the old Yahoo groups. Sadly I think they might be gone.
I like Simutrans and someone over at the official Simutrans has taken their time to create an absolutely fantastic...
I remember travelling back from Manchester Airport circa 1999, and when waiting for my train back to Leeds, there was another train going to Stockport via Manchester Piccadilly, operated by First North Western. It used a Class 150/1 in the old blue Regional Railways livery.
Does anyone else...
Bit of a random one, but does anyone have a list of the routes operated by Arriva Trains Northern and First North Western around those years? In particular, the ones around Manchester and Leeds?
Also if the rolling stock used was included, that would be a great help.:)
I imagine most of it...
Hi, first post here and this has no doubt been asked before. But why is it that whenever I go to Manchester Piccadilly there is always an empty Arriva Trains Wales class 175 parked outside, on the approach? It's been sat there since at least 2011.
