Long shot here, and I've a feeling it's not, but is the above journey valid via HS1 and STP? SET to St. Pancras and then Thameslink south to Ravensbourne, though I'm not sure the connection at STP is quick enough to make this the fastest option.
...ran yesterday!
Photo on WNXX. I thought it was a TRUST anomaly at first, but the photo and an enquiry to a signalman friend confirmed it. GLV + 73 ran as a "parliamentary" service to avoid formal DfT closure procedures.
The Track Recording Coach is running vice the TRU (950) using two 73's (138/107 I believe) on the Merseyrail network this week. It appears 73's will be used when running in the tunnels, with a 31 tagged on for above ground work. This formation appears to be running today, Monday night and...
Travelling on the 11th February, returning on the 18th. I've plugged all the info into NRE, getting the best offer of two £38.50 singles, total £77. This is via route Deal - Ashford - St Pancras/Kings X - Doncaster - Gilberdyke. Can any ticket whizzes best this with some splits?
This route...
Just worked over this chord from the Windsors onto the joint NR/District line between East Putney to Wimbledon. What services actually use this line? LO? The rails are shiny, so it definitely sees some use.
Found these gems during a nostalgic trip down TV memory lane on YouTube.

From the days when HS1 was just a doubtful "line on a map" and referred to as the "Union Railway". Interesting footage of a short 373 set running wrong road through Sandling...
Just waiting for the road north at East Midlands Parkway and a Colas 47 powered through on a steel working, heading southbound, at 1517 or thereabouts. Any idea what it was doing? I didn't think Colas steel workings went down the MML.
Ok, I am planning on making this journey fairly soon, and I have absolutely no idea how to start when planning a rail journey into Europe. Can anyone help? I gather it basically goes Derby - St. Pancs - Paris Nord - Paris Est - St Etienne. Who do I go through for tickets, National Rail, Eurostar...
Just having a YouTube trawl before bed, and am watching a lot of Milligan clips from his hilarious Q series. Anyone else like old Spike? I've been a fan for years now, he's an absolute comedy genius in my eyes.

Anyone interested, a pair of 97's (303 and 302) are working 1Q88 tomorrow. They were out today doing Oxenholme - Barrow - Carnforth - Carlisle.
Tomorrow they're on Carlisle - Dumfries - Carlisle - Derby via Stoke on Trent and Uttoxeter.
I travelled pass on a GC 180 on Tuesday, and thought I would share some random thoughts that popped into my head, namely I couldn't stop comparing it to a Voyager (obviously it's equivalent).
Basically I thought it was streets ahead of the Voyager. The 180 was quieter, less vibrations through...
Here are some phone pics I've downloaded of a few bits and bobs I've snapped at work. Not the best photos, the iPhone has it's limitations. A couple were taken with the Hipstamatic camera app to attempt to make the night shots a little less crap.
Hope it gives a little insight into the...
I'm returning to Derby from Canterbury West today on the return portion of a super off peak ticket, any route
permitted. Restrictions for EMT are that I must travel on a train departing St. Pancras after 1930.
Now for the odd bit as the route I normally take (HS1 then the MML from St...
Maroon inspection coach hauled by a matching maroon old engine (47 I think) cruised by me yesterday at Winch on the down in the lateish morning. Any idea what it was up to? Had folks on board nosing out the back windows, who recieved a cheery (not entirely sarcastic) wave from myself.
