My wife and I are travelling to Edinburgh in January and like to go first to Edinburgh Park.

I see TPE and XCountry trains are available to book now, but not LNER, which we prefer. Is there a reason for this

Do TPE and XCountry sell their tickets earlier than LNER.

It's 11 weeks, 6 days ahead

A few weeks ago, I set an alert on the LNER website for this journey and last week got a message saying tickets were available, but they're actually not

Thanks for that .. yes I could buy tickets to Edinburgh.

We like to stay at the Edinburgh Park Premuier Inn and usually drop off our bags when we first arrive.

We'll buy PlusBus tickets which we use later in the day on the buses / trams, but getting to EDP by train is much easier. Waiting n the lounge with a cuppa is just an added bonus. Taking a tram would mean a walk up to St Andrews Square, or along Princes Street to the tram stop. Buses are available, but slow and awkward with two suitcases

According to the NRE Booking Horizons page, LNER are only generally open for reservations until 1st January.

Their extended booking horizons (where offered) usually only apply for journeys wholly on LNER services, hence why you can book to Edinburgh but not through to Edinburgh Park.

Yes understandable with luggage! NCL to EDP is available to bookable the preceding Sunday (27/12), so hopefully yours will be available this week. Or you could buy NCL-EDB now if you're worried about the price going up and then a single EDB-EDP (£3.60).

Sunday 3rd January should be fully confirmed/open in booking engines by the end of the week.

Its essentially a normal service between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Thanks !

My DNA wouldn't let me ... with a railcard the PlusBus ticket for the day is £3.30 each, which would give unlimited travel on the buses / trams.

Yes, the train is the easiest way to get to EDP, but we've used the tram previously, which was't too bad really.

Maybe I should have a coffee in the LNER lounge at Waverley, then get the train, but ask my wife to take the tram and we'll see who arrives at EDP first .. or maybe not :D :D
