Queries about the "Popeye" cartoon character raised by a year 7 schoolgirl

Xenophon PCDGS · Sunday at 14:19

My grand-daughter, in year 7, having seen some the older cartoons wants to know.....
1)... How old is he?
2)... What is his relationship with Olive Oyl?
3)... Who is the mother of Popye's nephews?

I always understood that Olive Oyl was his girlfriend. No idea of the rest of the answers

Popeye is 97 years old - he first appeared in a comic in January 1929.

My grand-daughter wanted to know how old Popeye was when he appeared in those old cartoons.

Some sources claim the fictional character was aged maybe early 40s. Have to say he looks older than that to me!

BTW. The parents of Popeye's four nephews don't seem to be officially named anywhere.
