When can we see introduction of 8-car formations and the full reinstatement of the direct Hunts Cross to Southport service?

It's not even the frequency being doubled its going back to what it always was since 2006!
But, to be fair, the current frequency is infinitely better than it was in 1976.

Not sure whether this is an error, but it would appear, according to RTT allocations, one of the 777/1s is working on the Chester line today. I was on the understanding these could not operate on the Wirral line due to drivers not being trained on them. Could anyone confirm if they do in fact see it today on the Chester line?

Edit: seems as though it was an error. Now showing as 777003

As a frequent user of Cressington I am naturally miffed when our station has to put up with a poorer service. But I appreciate that compared to most local stations nationwide we get a good deal.

The Hunts Cross branch as a whole, though, deserves an all-day frequent service. Leaving aside South Parkway, St Michael's is very well used, and the all-hours popularity of Lark Lane, let alone events in Sefton Park, means that it really deserves a metro frequency throughout the day. Baltic, when/if it finally materialises, even more so: no-one is going to hang around for half an hour when they can get a bus within a couple of minutes or walk into/from town in twenty minutes.

Unlike north of Moorfields on the Northern Line, or the Birkenhead end of the Wirral, those stations are not served by multiple services and hence get a less frequent service than most other stations the same distance from the city centre. So either there needs to be turn-back provision at St Michaels, or the frequency through to Parkway (at least) should be doubled.
There is a turnback facility at Liverpool South Parkway.

Only a handful of Wirral drivers (that sign both the Wirral & Northern lines) are trained on 777/1s, no chance of one being in service on the Wirral

I imagine we’ll only see /1s on the Wirral if the network is ever extended to Wrexham/Shotton or Helsby/Runcorn East. That being said there does seem to be a few ECS moves showing from Ellesmere Port P2 towards the end of January when the line is closed to Chester and there are 4tph to Ellesmere Port, which would of course require /1s since P2 has no third rail, but I’m pretty sure that’s just a mistake in the timetable.

Full set of 8 cars out on all 3 Ormskirk to Sandhills diagrams today. Good to see!
Shame it didn't extend into normal service today. I assume the extra units gained from HNX line being shut have either gone to SOP or just aren't in use under this 4-week timetable.
