This may have had something to do with a tour they ran for BLS (I think?) which derailed in Dee Marsh. I'm assuming that yard was owned/maintained by DB. Understandable decision from WCRC but a shame for us enthusiasts.

As for UKR, they've got some great tours on offer that I would do if I had the money. Hopefully they can survive.

That’s interesting, I missed that Dee Marsh tour and have been hoping another one would be run

Unfortunately businesses don't survive on goodwill. Railtour operators need bums on seats.

I managed to survive my childhood and teenage years freaquently putting my head out of the window. What was the point of travelling if you couldn't check signal aspects, wave to admiring bystanders etc. Are people's head softer these days? I admit, once, when I was about 20 I got somegthing in my eye and had to go to hospital to have it removed. But I didn't sue anyone.

Would there be money in using a HST set and trying something to appear to "normals" and doing something like London - Alton Towers, Blackpool, Skegness or other tourist destinations that are in demand but not easy to get to by train from London. The beamish tours sell relatively well and would probably sell even better even they could be timed at more humane hours, to try and compete with the coach trip market.

Before DB cargo left the railtour market they used to do this somewhat with the 67s, but HSTs have the advantage of having a significant enthusiast following too.

Well there's lots of things folk will have done in the past but when rules change, society needs to move with those changes or canvass politically for those changes to get reversed. Good luck with that btw.

Meanwhile I'll just down six pints and drive somewhere at speed without using my seatbelt just to prove that things were so much safer in the past. 8-)

I think rail tour operators should have a more forceful system of banning the tiny percentage of people who don't want to tow the line. The EPL hardly cancels all football because a small number of 'supporters' think they have a right to spoil things for everyone else.

McLaren Rail did try to set up some day trips from Marylebone this year as I recall - I think with the Romic set? Not sure they got very far with it? Maybe it needs pushing more?

Has anyone else had issues getting a refund from Ukr? I’ve had to email them twice to ask for one and they’ve not refunded me within the timescales said…

I received a further email yesterday from UKR saying that they're working hard to reschedule but not able to quote a date at this time. My thoughts are that the closer to Christmas we get, the less daylight hours to enjoy the route.
