Am I right in thinking now the revised 12 route isn't happening that both 12 and 13 will be following the exact same routes or will there be any slight differences?
The 12 serves Anglesey Road in Burton (where 11 went) and the loops in Barton & Alrewas whereas by the looks of thing the 13 would be neither of these to achieve a slightly quicker round trip.

What a shocker of a day yesterday, firstly New Street in Burton was closed with no signs put up by Diamond warning people. I waited around lunch time yesterday only to be told by a passing driver (he apparently had time between his runs to tell folk) that it had been shut and to go to Sainsbury's for the 21. The 12.25 didn't turn up (according to someone tracking it, it had started it's journey very late just outside of town) and the 13 25 did eventually turn up 30 minutes late! So in effect, there wasn't a 21 from Burton from 11.25 (if that ran) all the way through to 13.55! There were no jams what so ever to be seen anywhere on the route to the outskirts of Linton, the only thing at fault was the useless bus, it was one of those 12 plate ex London E200s, it couldn't climb the slightest hill to save it's life.

I wasn't the only person affected by this closure and a lack of information from Diamond. People were confused as to where the 2 was supposed to stop resulting in some rushing over the road when it came, I had endless people ask me which side of the road the Lichfield buses were stopping at. I even heard one poor out of breath bloke saying he had to run from the New Street stop to make sure he didn't miss the Lichfield bus as nobody was there to tell him of the closure until he asked a nearby driver. To make matters worse, a bus pulled up not in service, people asked if he was the next 21, he said no, but the next bus along was, and then he went off. No bus came for a good 10 minutes and when it did it wasn't the 21, would much rather the driver just say 'I don't know' rather than pull what could be described as a cruel prank bearing in mind the number of elderly people waiting.

I only noticed a closure because Trentbarton posted it, saying their buses were using Worthington Way

The info was posted on their socials regarding the change in stops for Sonic Boom Festival, but presumably nothing in town - which is useless if you don't use socials!

The bus stop outside my house still has the timetable from 2024 in the holder I think!!!

It doesn't take much resource surely to inform people of your times and changes to those times - it's just lazy and then they wonder why no-one uses the buses, really annoys me! Even things like promoting stops on the routes they serve might increase ridership, does it really take that much effort (or money) to do this?!

This is a real shame and highlights a complete lack of care by the company in terms of their treatment of customers.

Is there any word on how the Uttoxeter battle against Buslink is going?

Looking at the tracking on bus times it seems that they were trying to run the service with 1 bus around this time (presumably the other broke down?). The 2 for much of the day was every 2 hours. Being a Saturday surly you would think a spare bus and driver would be avalable. Some of the delay looks to have come from having to go via the train station on the way into town to get to the correct side of the road at Sainsburys.

Going down New Street yesterday there were at least 3 posters detailing the closure on stands 3 & 4 (where the 6, 7, 10, 401 stop) but nothing on the otherside of the road.

I had occasion to use the X12 on Sunday afternoon from Lichfield to Burton and I was amazed to see that ridiculous diversion to get onto the A38 is still in place. Will the work ever be completed, it's effectively ruined the service.

Has the X12 timetable been padded out to reflect the extra running time involved? The bus I was on was late into Burton (on a Sunday afternoon!) and I only just managed to get the X38 to Derby at 1415.

It will just be like the Willington bridge works which are for the next two years and closed at night! I belive on Sundays it is designed around 1 bus doing the trip in an hour whereas in the week its normally 3 buses on a 90 min cycle.

Diamond are now messing with the 21 a service which has remained stable since the early days of Midland Classic. Buslink has teased on Facebook of something new coming so potentially a replacement for the areas being cut.

Changes to Service 21 05/10/2026 13:31:05

From 1st November 2026

There will be some changes to Service 21 from 1st November affecting both the timetable and the route.

A 30 minute frequency will be maintained across the core parts of the 21 route, however, the 21 service will no longer serve Stapenhill and Linton. From Burton, service will operate along main Stanton Rd towards Stanton, then after serving Castle Gresley the service will operate directly along Castle Rd towards Church Gresley.

This is to improve overall reliability of the service and due to low passenger numbers through Linton.

Service will continue to be maintained through Stapenhill by routes 2, 21E & 22.
Services 19C, 21E & 22 will continue to serve Linton.

There will be no changes to Service 21E which will remain the same as currently.

The new timetable can be downloaded here

But the 22 doesn't exactly serve Linton! Are they expecting people to walk nearly a mile to the church for the 22 that will take the best part of an hour to get to Burton? They're defo having a laugh!

I seen a comment on facebook saying they'd been awarded a contract for a new 20 service with details coming soon.

There is always Buslink waiting to save the day. ;). Maybe an opportunity for former Trentbarton Scania 662.
Ex 662 is only being used for the ‘fun stuff’ I was told but you never know…

The Diamond Mercedes Sprinter previously branded for the National Memorial Arboretum is due to return in a new advert wrap - for the newly rebranded Royal British Legion.

I’m struggling to believe that irizar i3 31000 is returning - it hasn’t even got an MOT and it’s several months down the line when it was mentioned it would return. Just doesn’t make sense to me.
