I struggle to see how Proctors are making any money on the X98/99. 60 mile round trip, sometimes twice a day, to change drivers or swop a vehicle.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority provide financial support for the operation of the X98/X99.
I thought Procters were supposed to becoming part of North Riding. All is a total shambles but then if their priority is stupid renumbering of vehicles when they move depots having time to consider their public interaction will be limited.
Well yes, but since that announcement they've put another bus into Procters branding. Of course, the move from Dales & District branding to Procters branding has gone far from well. Currently on the 82/83/84, its a North Riding service, but will be operated by a bus with Procters, York Locals, East Yorkshire and occasionally North Riding branding.

Why’s the 209** back at Anlaby road, thought they was in storage waiting to be taken away
If you mean the Optare Olympus fleet, some of them were relicensed at the end of August, likely due to an increased vehicle requirement.
EY Enthusiasts reports that as of 27th August, the following buses have been relicensed:
20348 (Volvo B7RLE Wright Eclipse Urban)
20698 (Volvo B7TL Wright Eclipse Gemini)
20995 (ADL Enviro400 Optare Olympus)
20996 (ADL Enviro400 Optare Olympus)

Volvo B9R Caetano Levante 20085 has been withdrawn.

Fox192 is right, I went to Anlaby Road for a quick look around the public footpath of the depot, and indeed, the E400Hs (some at least) are stored in the back along with 6945 and 6191 of GNE, 8274 thats been out of action since 2020 along with the odd Olympus.

Curiously, 24024 is near the front of the depot along with minibus 20404 BN17 JFX

I've used the extension to Fountains Abbey again today, the first 84 from York had 7 (myself included) people stay on to Fountains Abbey which was good to see. Destination blinds have finally been updated, just as the service returns to York-Ripon next week, but better late than never I suppose!
----
It looks like the customer support team are getting confused with EY's various sub-brands. Alerts on the app about disruption in York tag the Coaster 12 instead of the Y12, and disruption in Scarborough, Filey or Bridlington tags the Y12 instead of the Coaster 12. I have personalised travel alerts enabled for the Y12, so its a bit frustrating to get alerts for the Coaster 12 as it doesn't affect me. I can imagine its equally frustrating for someone who uses the Coaster 12 to get alerts for the Y12 instead when it doesn't affect them.

Even yesterday, a road closure in Fishergate had the Coaster 12 incorrectly listed as an affected service instead of the Y12. This also happens with Coaster 14 and the Y14, the latter I have personalised travel alerts for and have been notified about a road closure in Flamborough which has no affect on the Y14 whatsoever.
My friend who works there says the blinds were updated before the service started. Driver must have picked the wrong one when you rode last time.

I've used the extension 3 times and only once the bus had the correct destination blind. Its also been noticed by DalesBus volunteers that destination blinds weren't correctly showing Fountains Abbey and timetable posters weren't updated either (including in Ripon Bus Station). This is all across nearly 7 weeks of the service running.

Down to the driver then, I'm afraid.

It was the same few drivers everytime I used it as well. Its all irrelevant now given that the service returns to York-Ripon on Monday. Had the destination blinds been showing Fountains Abbey and timetable posters at bus stops updated, the service might have been more well used to Fountains Abbey. The general observation was that it was carrying fresh air apart from a few journeys.

I doubt it was mentioned on Fountains Abbey leaflets available in tourist information centres and hotels etc

IMO a small repeater of a LED display should be shown on the dashboard. Whenever I have remarked to a driver that the destination is showing wrong they have thanked me and corrected it.

Information about the Fountains Abbey extension could be found on the DalesBus website, EY website, National Trust - Fountains Abbey website and the timetable poster at the bus stop by Fountains Abbey visitor centre. Timetables were also updated in York at bus stops and the next bus indicators where applicable. Bus stops along the rest of the route had Information about £1 entry for kids to Fountains Abbey, but no actual timetable for how to get there.

So a tourist in York, for example, might have known of the service from the National Trust web site but I doubt they would look at the DalesBus or EY website, or bus stop timetable displays. If they had picked up a leaflet from a tourist inforamtion display its doubtful they would have looked at the NT web site. If passing at the time a stop indicator displayed it they might have seen it, but how many non intending passegers actually make a note of what those show. More than likely they would be in deep conversaion or staring at their mobile.

The X81 does quite well as an extra seasonal bus, especially as this is its first year, but seems to have been more well promoted with printed timetables and promotion on social media by EY. I can't seem to find anything about it on the Castle Howard website however.

Likewise with the weekend DalesBus network, timetable booklets and promotion on social media seem to be working very well. DalesBus has been promoting the extension throughout the summer but I haven't seen much from EY. The lack of printed timetables hasn't helped the service.

EY's summer extra services seem to be a mixed bag in terms of usage. The X81, Beachcomber, Coaster 13, Moorsbus and DalesBus seem to be well used. However, the extension to Fountains Abbey and Wolds Explorer 200 to name a few seem to be far less popular. Yes the DalesBus, Moorsbus, Beachcomber and Coaster 13 are well established seasonal services but the X81 seems to be very well used despite being a brand new service for this year. It all comes down to promotion and this extension hasn't been promoted as well as the DalesBus and Moorsbus networks or the X81.

Its not been a good day for EY on DalesBus today. EvoSeti 20808 broke down in Pateley Bridge on the 12:00 trip from Grassington to Ripon, resulting in the 14:40 trip from Ripon back to Grassington being started from Pateley Bridge and the 13:10 & 14:22 trips between Ripon & Fountains Abbey being cancelled. 20808 then departed Grassington for the 16:00 trip back to Pocklington, only for it to break down again near Grimwith Reservoir. A replacement bus (E200 21027) has been sent from Procters to get everyone home with a delay of just under 2 hours at the time of writing.

Interestingly, the 200 hasn't even had a press release of feature on the EY news section whereas the other seasonal services, including the Spurn Point route, have. I still say the 200 runs too infrequently, 3 journeys on a Saturday and 2 on a Sunday compared to 4 both days on to/from Spurn. The Sunday 200 requires you to stay in Thixendale for 4 hours which is a heck of a lot of time to fill. Plus, don't even get me started on the complete failure to even run the service on the May bank holiday Monday.

Also the 1440 From Ripon did not run as it started at Pateley Bridge to get to Grassington. Pity they did not react quicker to get Procters to fill in. The Abbey would have been serviced after 4 by Transdev Keighley 820 and Transdev York 821 for anyone not wanting to wait for 822 to eventually arrive

Not the first time 21027 has been called out to help EY in a pinch - it came out last year after a Moorsbus breakdown

What was the cause of the breakdown for 808 - aka "Bob" do you know?

Think you mean 825 not 821 for anyone waiting to go to York from Fountains Abbey. Anyone in Pateley Bridge with enough notice could've got the 24 to Harrogate and then got the 825 to York or a train.

From what I've heard, connections in Pocklington onto the 200 from York are poor this year. Especially on Saturdays, which seems to require getting the 08:40 X46 from York Station giving you 35 minutes in Pocklington to catch the 10:10 200. Not great for trying to get people to connect to/from York.

I believe something to do with coolant based off comments on a now deleted Facebook post by DalesBus. Last time there was a breakdown on DalesBus, it was 20812 in May by Fell Beck and no replacement bus was sent. People had to wait for an engineer to fix 20812 so they could get home.

An update from EY Enthusiasts:
B5LH 20824 is now complete from the paintshop and joins B5LH 20834 whilst awaiting slots in PSV for MOT.
B5TL 20793 has moved to the paintshop.
E200 20373 is reported in the bodyshop.

No wonder they can't get rid of 698 and 705.

746 is now in the Garage it had to be towed off the Office car park as after I parked it up a few weeks ago it was a non starter, sounded like no compression. In no particular order the vehicles at Anlaby Road returning from the storage site at the docks (lease had ended) are:-
348
698
The remaining DOE’s 995 etc
901-910
705 never got delicensed or 712, looks like a couple of the ex Hybrid E400’s will be returning for schools as all schools and colleges will be back next week. 361 has returned from Go Ahead West Yorkshire also 922 from Cummins and 394 from Volvo.
