Does anyone know if there has been a change in the drs allocations for the tesco container services. Up until the 15th August I'd only seen class 88's on these (mainly singles with a very occasional double).
But since the 15th August I've seen three double workings with a class 88 and class 68, where the 68 was definitely under power (as you could clearly hear it).
One each at Carlisle, Preston and Piccadilly. The up working at Preston yesterday morning was 88007 and 68034.

There is a long running discussion about the need to double-head these trains during Autumn
and Winter to reduce the likelihood of failures on Shap and (especially) Beattock here:

The Shap quarry to Drigg stone trains recently finished their latest campaign, so DRS now has
enough spare 68s available each day to be able to double head 4S43 without tying up a second
class 88, although please note that the 88 will always be the leading loco when a 68 is used to
enable the driver to drop the pantograph in emergencies.

Not sure whether you’ll be able to get a confirmed allocation on this yet, but could anyone see what this run could possibly be tomorrow, it’s 3Q86 RTC -> RTC via Skegness, and I gather from the headcode it’ll be some form of 37 formation, but can anyone help as to whether it’s likely to be T&T tractors or a 37/DBSO set?

TIA,
Amos

Wales (sometimes in England), thanks for replying!

197028 Holyhead
Yes, I believe that's right - 197028 at Holyhead, long-term out of use for months.
197029 unsure where this is
I saw 197029 based at Machynlleth on Wed 19/8/26 and working the Cambrian Coast/Pwllheli training run and return, but later in the week (post #10,799), it stayed in Pwllheli station siding for some reason. No-one has replied to that post, I don't know if the unit failed or what?
197030 Machynlleth
I saw 197030 based at Machynlleth on Wed 19/8/26.
197033 Holyhead
I believe that's right - 197033 at Holyhead, long-term out of use for months.
197035 Shrewsbury
It looks like 197035 could be at Chester rather than Shrewsbury - it shows on RTT+ vehicle search as having last worked the entirety of 5T35 1452 Shrewsbury Abbey Frgte Cs to Chester D.M.U.D. on Wed 26/8/26 (with 197024 taken off at Chester station):
197039 Machynlleth
I saw 197039 (Machynlleth-based) on Fri 28/8/26 working the afternoon Aberystwyth training run and return.
and 197036 and 197041 which are in passenger service are the above still correct thanks.
197036 looks to be currently active in passenger service,

but it looks like 197041's most recent move was to Chester on Wed 26/8/26 (5Z41 1715 Crewe C.S. to Chester D.M.U.D., but only showing as going as far as Chester station, whereas 197103 is shown as going the whole way):

====================

Is this for riding or just sightings? I've seen all 77 but have ridden on 72 - I require 197013, 028, 030, 035 and 039 for haulage, which of course is going to take a while.

Thanks very much for that. I will try to plan around those as I'm going to be back over that way.

Hi all, this train ran with 37425 "Concrete Bob" on the back, led by DBSO 9701, 9810, 6397 and a coach marked as "Colas" for which I was not sharp enough to see the full number - Possibly four digits starting with "95"?. Can anyone enlighten me please? For reference the coach in question looks like a converted Mk1 with lockable panels along the full length.
Many thanks in advance.
