Hi. Does anyone have any insight as to why there are no advance fares available in either direction between October 20th and 27th? Scotrail's unhelpful X reply was that they may have all gone, but some are available before and after those dates.

I don't know whether half term would have anything to do with it since Scotland is off earlier and England off later, but that could just be the simplest answer there from ScotRail.

You would think that Scotrail agents would be aware that Advance tickets haven't yet been released for those dates due to engineering works.

Whatever happened to engineering works being confirmed 13-14 weeks in advance, so revised train plan could be entered, before the 12 week deadline.

If they know there are works, why not plan around them, and release tickets. Or is it just who cares about helping potential passengers attitude, so have some dates released and other earlier dates released is deemed good enough.

The last reason I heard for shorter release dates was Covid changes. What excuse are they using for not releasing on time 5 years after lockdowns ended.

Lewis on X is now saying that there is engineering work, but Aberdeen to Inverness will not be affected.

I'm also looking for Advances but from Glasgow to Aberdeen.

The NR engineering works page seems to think it's only Perth to Inverness that's affected, so I'm not sure why Aberdeen tickets aren't released.

Some TOCs only release Advances for a given day/week once the timetables is 'confirmed' (I.e. the Informed Traveller engineering work process has been complete). Of course that's not really how these things work, in fact data shows that more schedules change after the IT process' cutoff than before/as part of it.
