I also have a question - Do SD Travel normally use Mellor Stratas on the 5 (Bathgate Runner)?
Pretty much always a Mellor Strata on it, yes. It’s certainly been a long time since I’ve seen anything different on it.

Agreed, still at least the mystery is solved, wonder why they went through the effort to label the stops before officially announcing this?

Fantastic news on it being limited stops though, wonder what route it will take from Haymarket to Hermiston, and then Hermiston to Ratho.
I’d imagine just run direct through Gorgie & Saughton Mains then via the 70 route, though I’m probably gonna hop on it for a run or two soon to see what route it follows / how busy it is.

The route map on the Edinburgh Leisure website shows it running via the A8 non-stop, serving stops HB and HJ at Haymarket station, and then following the 70's route.
