Grosmont to Whitby anomaly

I’m currently on holiday in Grosmont right next to the NYMR (Wohoo!!)

Anyway, I was perusing through Trainline and realtime trains as I sometimes do and I found that there was an option to buy, at the price of a standard fare (£3.25), a ticket on the first NYMR train out of Grosmont (09:19) to Whitby. According to Trainline, it’s operated by DB and it’s only available today (29/08/26). Does anyone know anything about this?

Would a (railcard discounted?) £3.25 fare (Off Peak Day Return?) be valid on that? Thought NYMR fares were much higher than that!
