Someone posted elsewhere that makes more sense was that they went to the guard to ask "Is this the train to X" he told them no. So they just thought it was their train. That makes sense as they didnt seem angry and others were being let on.

I have just found the same video on TikTok, where it says it was posted 3 days ago. It's slightly longer and does show the train on the move within 6 or 7 seconds of the guard closing his door. So, if nothing else that should make it clear where in the despatch process this occurred.

I'm amazed it's got so much traction (teehee) to be honest. Passenger turns up late for train and is denied boarding shocker.

I once refused a wheelchair who turned up just as I started (self) dispatch (different station obvs), I wasn't even halfway through (like the TM) was on the video. Anyone who has dispatched from platform 1 at Padd knows what it's like, as others have said, we don't know what was said, but you are dammd if you do and dammed if you don't. The TM made absolutely the right call.
The video shows that the train was the 13:50 to Great Malvern and that it departed at 14:07.

I checked RTT for the 14 days prior to 22 August and the Great Malvern train was not delayed, so it must be filmed prior to 8/9 August.
The most likely destinations for the two presumed tourists would be Oxford (a stop on the train), or Heathrow (a different train). Given the delay to the train, and the fact that the next Cotswold Line train would be at 14:53, it is unlikely that they required a Cotswold Line train, as they would presumably have arrived earlier, and for the same reason unlikely that they had an Advance ticket for that specific train.
If the 17 minute delay remained constant it would have arrived into Oxford at 15:00.
The next scheduled direct train to Oxford with a normal schedule would arrive at 15:16, or by changing for XC at Reading at 15:11.
The video does show the train is already flashing to leave as they arrive on the platform, but I think some of the posts have edited the beginning.
To be honest they are lucky he even acknowledged them.
Dispatching is safety critical, the most dangerous part of the guards/tm duties so I wouldn't have been surprised if they were completely ignored until he was finished at which point it would have been too late to board the train anyway.

I was boarding a XC service at Birmingham New Street once and was told "You can't board here mate, it's first class" by the train manager. I simply smiled and showed him my 14 day 1st class ALR and got a very grovelling apology.
Not Rail related but We were lucky enough to get half price avios flight to USA First class BA during Covid
We went for a prowl in duty free and then it was time to go
Back to the Millionaires Door to Concord room and asked the member of staff if we could get to the gate via the Concorde room

I was boarding a XC service at Birmingham New Street once and was told "You can't board here mate, it's first class" by the train manager. I simply smiled and showed him my 14 day 1st class ALR and got a very grovelling apology.
In the very early days of "Virgin Value First" (when it was genuinely unusual to be in first class not wearing a suit, in part because it was expensive - there were only First Open tickets and no discounts at all outside of Weekend First) I got exactly that, a 20ish year old dressed in a T-shirt and camo combats with a big rucksack. I was pleased to show my valid ticket.
My grandfather used to work on the railway in quite a senior position and had a staff pass including family members in first class without any sort of commuting restriction as the modern ones I think have. My Dad used to travel to school on it. He told me he used to take great pleasure in showing it when they used to try to kick him out of first class on the way to and from school.
I doubt it's this here though, it's just that they arrived after the others and you have to draw the line somewhere.

Despite looking like a scruff. (I mean its important to dress casually and confortably when youre on trains for 16 hours a day...)
I've not heard of it for a very long time. First Class is now very much a leisure product and people use it in all manner of states of dress. A suit being borderline mandatory (not really, but anyone without a suit was treated very much with suspicion) was a pre-privatisation thing.
Funny how names change over time... was originally known as the Million Pound Door, as that was the cost BA paid the airport to get it, compensating them for the lack of duty free sales that would be lost due to this shortcut.

Quite - had he had eyes in the back of his head so he would have been aware this couple were at the door before the people he let on none of this would have occurred. I think we see the whole interaction from start to finish, but crucially from a different perspective to the manager (who understandably was looking down the train to dispatch it).
