Should held-up trains wait to enter Standedge until they can go normal speed?

A few times we've been stuck behind the York stopper and crawled through the tunnel, which causes a lot of fumes - more than usual - to come inside the train which is not pleasant. It seems pretty common with the Scarborough / York services.

Should the train pause outside the tunnel (or at Greenfield/Marsden) until it's clear to go normal speed to minimise the time in the tunnel?

Edit: answers about TRU and electrification not accepted ;)

I understood that when the Diggle area was upgraded they installed extra signals in Standedge tunnel to allow trains to run closer together and hence improve capacity as part of TRU? Perhaps that flexibility could be held back until the tunnel is electrified?

I agree that diesels through the tunnel makes it unpleasant by the time you reach the end - and I haven't had the experience of creeping through either. I can't wait for it to be electrified, but am not optimistic that it will happen in my lifetime.

I am very sensitive to the NOx fumes and have the asthma reliever ready as it is usually very noticeable. It would be nice if they could turn off the ventilation between Diggle and Marsden - the HSTs used to automatically blank off the air inlets when they were braking to prevent the burning resin smell entering the coaches.
