Article says

The incident saw 10 wagons of the 25-wagon train derail, causing 446,000 litres of fuel to spill," Goes on to say "No one was injured, but 116,000 litres of fuel ignited while 330,000 litres drained into surrounding wetlands," Further on the say "The RAIB said, in its 2022 report, that the train was travelling at about 38mph at the time of the derailment, and was carrying up to 75.5 tonnes of fuel.

A 25 wagon train was carrying 75.5 tons of fuel. So 3.02 tons of fuel per wagon????? What am I missing here? Would that would be 75.5 tons per wagon?

The RAIB report actually states "Each wagon was carrying up to 75.5 tonnes of diesel fuel or gas oil". Error on BBC's part.

Well, 446,000 litres (of spilt fuel) has to be at least 330 tons in weight alone, hasn't it, maybe more than that? Several tankers!

I did think of checking the density but the report did not specify the type of fuel so wouldn't have been able to verify what 446,000 litres of fuel weighed.

Surely you would think even the BBC would say to themselves that is a road tanker is 44 tons then even 10 road tankers would weigh more that 75.5 tons. That is about 2 road tankers. Sorry don't known the net weight of a road tanker.

About 2.2 million litres on the train on total so circa 20% lost to fire or spillage.
