Due to a car issue I need to use the train tomorrow to get from Chesterfield to Normanton. Where I'm heading isn't that near Normanton station - it's about 25 minutes walk, making it pretty equal between getting a bus from Wakefield or the train to Normanton and walking.
I'm thinking though, if I get a ticket CHD - NOR, would I be able to use trains to Wakefield Westgate, or only to Kirkgate? When I plan journeys from Wakefield to Chesterfield, most options are from Westgate, presumably as the services from there are faster than those from Kirkgate. There are no direct trains from Westgate to Normanton (and you'd pass though Kirkgate anyway) so I've not been able to generate an itinerary for CHD - NOR that includes a change at Westgate, which further makes me question if it would be allowed. The option to walk is given, but that's also given at New Mills and the same ticket isn't valid to both.
My thinking is I've probably got more flexibility just getting a ticket to Wakefield Stations and ignoring the option to get closer by train, unless there is a way a Normanton ticket could be used to Westgate.
