I believe 060 was sadly involved in a fatality last night which explains it's absence. As for the previous post above the quoted one, 2R15 is running because I've just passed it! It was notable as the colourful GBR unit was working it and a search for 701006 brought up the apparently "cancelled" service it's on!

I apologise. I took the information about 2R15 being cancelled from journeycheck which showed it cancelled at the time I posted. 701006 is one of the sets that should have dropped out to Wimbledon between the peaks (off 2F86) so the one unit is operating on two diagrams this morning.

As nctd2306 has mentioned, 701060 was unfortunately involved in a fatality between Isleworth and Syon Lane around 23:00 last night. It is currently berthed at Wimbledon Park Depot, so understandably it won’t be in service for a short while.

701035 was named JOCKEY on 2/8/26 at Wimbledon Depot
Can't speak for 028, but 029 is still in the same place in the yard as it was on Monday, lights were all off, no AC sound coming from it so I'd assume it's still dead to the world for now.

For clarity 029 has not been passed for passenger service yet, not that I am aware of anyway. I was kind of hoping it would have been by some miracle when I came back from leave, but unfortunately not quite there yet.

SWR must have some sidings made of magic sponge to be able to soak up all these 701/5s. I cannot help thinking the pace of deliveries, with 23 out of 30 701/5s already in London, means some might (must) be in service quite soon ?.

I suppose that is equivalent to 20 "short" units but I feel a number of them made space for 701/0s. We will soon have 25 701/5s here in SWR land. That feels like a lot of unused 701s !.
Afterthought - I suppose I need to get an idea how many 450s have been freed up and are no longer hanging around sidings used for suburban services.
It is a tantalisingly high number of 701/5s around SWR without any being in service.

At least today there's 49 out of 60 (58 if you don't count 028 and 029), but today there's another 2*450 diagram all day Shepperton (2H01).

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure SWR can't run 458s to Shepperton via Kingston even if they wanted to, cuz 458s aren't permitted to run on the mainline due to gauging problems. So unless all Shepperton trains run via Richmond, if a 701 fails or is unavailable then only 450s can bail them out.

I'm obsessed with having 60 trains that were ordered at vast expense 9 years ago all in functioning passenger service.

I thought Bournemouth was full, which is why they’re going to Strawberry Hill.

I think he probably meant they have all been accepted by the company but that isn't the same as passed for passenger service. I could be wrong mind.
