I am not sure even Varamis know the answer to that one. When are the 321s leaving Carlisle, they look like an utter mess.

Fully agree with you there they should just be shunted into the middle of kingmoor , not a great look in front of the travelling publicWhen are the 321s leaving Carlisle, they look like an utter mess.
The path is in but it didn't run.Looking on rtt it appears on the 12th their was on running from Willesden Prdc to Birmingham International.
Agree with what you say, but who is going to organise, carry out and pay for the required shunt ? Unfortuneatly everything has a cost and nobody is going to pay for something that they are not responsible for.Fully agree with you there they should just be shunted into the middle of kingmoor , not a great look in front of the travelling public
If taken to Kingmoor, they’d have to move it again to get it to an electrified line each time they wanted to charge the batteries/ charge the air accumulators etc incurring more charges. Probably better to leave it on the back road in the station unless the siding’s suddenly needed for something else.Agree with what you say, but who is going to organise, carry out and pay for the required shunt ? I'll take an off-peak return to Mossend Down Yard pleaseMeanwhile, Real Time Trains is showing one of their services as a public service!!!!
Ashford Steam Centre is one that comes to mind, although that was BR not NR. Stuff even got scrapped to pay debts, notably the 4DD centre coach. Is there precedent for NR to demand that a piece of roling stock is removed from their property?
I might be wrong in saying this, but I understand that sidings and yards leased to an operator from NR (Kingmoor Yard for instance) are treated as the opeartor's property and they usually raise a charge for anyone else to use their sidings, but the same does not apply to Network Rail owned sidings. As far as I know, they do not raise a charge as their use is regarded as part of the access agreement. So these units are dumped in an NR siding and probably not being charged, but what happens if the owning company folds - time will tell !It must be costing somebody something to keep them there, so eventually they'll have to be moved once NR stop being paid.
Is there precedent for NR to demand that a piece of roling stock is removed from their property?
My guess is either they become the problem of whoever buys them as part of assets being sold off, or they just get left there for a while until someone decides whose problem it is., but what happens if the owning company folds - time will tell !
You obviously haven't seen the state of it, filthy and covered in graffiti, looks like a youth art installationWhat are the sidings usually used for? Maybe it’s not really an urgent problem
That rearmost siding’s hardly been used since the DRS 57 Thunderbird contract finished. What are the sidings usually used for? Maybe it’s not really an urgent problem
That's no way to talk about Carlisle station! You obviously haven't seen the state of it, filthy and covered in graffiti, looks like a youth art installation

Gisby [Robin Gisby OBE, the chairman of Varamis Rail] has been involved with Varamis Rail for a little while and the company has had a bit of a bumpy ride recently, but Gisby still believes it is a good idea worth developing even more.
“It’s a brilliant idea. It hasn’t been easy for various reasons, but the premise is absolutely there.
“But now, there is fresh impetus, some new maintenance deals for the 325s and 321s and we’re looking to restart regular services in the next few months.”
Seemed a pretty good idea at the time but ultimately can’t have made money given its very short life .Robin Gisby ‘cut his teeth’ with the niche Charterail freight business in 1989-1992.
I didn’t like to mention that!Seemed a pretty good idea at the time but ultimately can’t have made money given its very short life .
Strange that they're Hanson & Hall run and not Varamis run. Will there be some 321s on the move tomorrow? I've noticed a few services, ran by Hanson & Hall, pathed as 321s for tomorrow, going from Wembley to Northampton, then Birmingham and back.
Strange that they're Hanson & Hall run and not Varamis run.
Does Varamis still employ drivers? I would assume they would all have found other jobs in the time without services, and if so they can't really run services themselves.Strange that they're Hanson & Hall run and not Varamis run.
